Nuggets, even if we spend big we can’t do it until January. We definitely do need some players, especially centre backs. But we don’t need to sign forward players if we only play one.

Massive overreaction. We more than contained them before that fortunate opener. Looked comfortable on the ball up until the final third. Frustrating performance from Chalobah. Did not lack the intensity of the Villa match, wonder if they got fatigued?

A loan to buy arrangement can still be made this window. If we get Tilt with a loan to buy, linked with us all window and apparently only £200k to £400k off Blackpool’s valuation, that’s a start and sign of ambition. Bringing in a Championship proven striker on loan should also not be beyond us. Norwich did it for Rhodes, a player I would have liked to see here and stressed that earlier this summer, he’s already bagged a few for them. I believe we definitely need someone like that. Playing two up front could resolve our problems in the short term, but not many teams play two up front and get success in this division. We need that proven striker. When Dozzell and Huws come back, we will have those creative midfielders to create chances. Nolan looks like he could be a decent creative player after a few more games and Edwards has already adapted well for us at this level. It’s early days, but I don’t know how reliable and consistent Harrison will be at this level. I’d start Jackson against Sheffield Wednesday, regardless of the system.

We need players that can score and not be fatigued after 4 league matches, Evans, ambition? Those two words just don't go together.

I’d also argue we need our traditional Premier League class loanee at left wing. We’ve benefited from Fraser, Lawrence, and Celina in recent seasons, but Sears, Ward, and Edun (a natural central midfielder) don’t really cut it there. It’s definitely a concerning area for me. Unless Rowe magically makes that spot his own, or someone like Nydam can step up and perform there consistently, then we will be overly reliant on the likes of Edwards and Nolan.

Did we think it was going to be an instant fix?
I can see it taking until Xmas to really turn things around, for heaven's sake the majority of the team have only played together 3-4 competitive games. The one thing I will agree with is the need to play two up front and offer more of a goal threat but other than that I still think the positives of the new era are worth the short term pain.
And I'm not even bothering visiting TWTD which is no doubt in melt down!

Agree with Bigal, way too early to be stressing about results. It will take a while but from what I've seen so far the new recruits will do well for us.
Unfortunately, some of last years team just aren't good enough. Knudsen is gash and I still don't rate Ward. Left side was weak today and Ward is not the long term answer. Wouldn't bother me if neither played for us again.

Also, I'm not going to blame Bart for the goals. One clearly ricocheted off Chambers' head and the other took a small nick with Bart sadly not being able to get enough on it to push it past the post.

The left side is weak but Edwards was pretty much anonymous too last night, which is what happens when the wingers are so deep.

    We don’t have until Christmas.

Knudsen also is not gash. He’s a decent championship level defender and a threat down the left wing. He is the only player with a league assist since the opening day. He got into a brilliant position for a cross with loads of time toward the end of the first half and only had Harrison’s heavily marked head to aim at. No bodies in the box and nobody arriving to follow in.

Well Saturday against Sheffield Wednesday is now a massive "Must Win" game before we face the Budgies!

If we go into the Old Farm off the back of 2 defeats I can see us getting a good doing I'm afraid even if it is only Norwich.

You reap what you sew and replacing experienced proven Strikers with rookies still wet behind the ears is a huge gamble which clearly isn't working.

Hurst will be gone by Bonfire Night!

Fact is we came away with nothing and only had 1 shot on goal! At least McCarthy's team would have scored with that 1 shot!

Warky there is no point having the club if there is no entertainment value whatsoever. One thing Hurst has already brought is that at least people care if we win or lose again - are getting elated, angry, passionate again about Ipswich Town.

We don’t know if Hurst will get it together but we do know nothing could be worse than Mick McCarthy in the dugout playing it safe and happily picking up his wages whatever the outcome.

Football is a results based business and I don't really fancy being entertained in League 1 next season!

We might be playing more attractive football now which isn't difficult but the results are the most important thing!

Hurst better find his feet soon at this level that's all I am saying. <ok>

If we got great results fair enough but we didn't even do that.

If Hurst doesn't pick up some points and improve then he won't be around for long. That's better than sticking with a no hoper for 5 years. I hope he does because I have seen some signs of very good football which had gone AWOL from Portman Road since Jimmy Bullard was in the side.

That would be great except that the league is over 46 games Warky.

We were never in danger of Relegation with Mick that's for sure!

Instead of bringing in a load of mediocre lower league players you would have thought that Hurst would promote the likes of Nydam, Dozzel, Downes and Morris and supplement them with a couple of proven Championship level players. He had the money to do that after the sales of Webster, Waghorn and Garner but instead he has taken a massive, massive gamble which we all be paying for as the season goes on. Like I said in a previous post evolution is far better than revolution! My big concern is that we may have thrown the baby out with the bath water by lurching from one extreme to the other! It took even the legend Sir Bobby at least 4 seasons to build his own team. He didn't come in and make such huge wholesale changes to start with! I seem to remember that the Cobbolds backed him by spending money on Frank Clarke? a proven Striker at that time to help stave off relegation during his first or second season.

We finished four points off relegation two seasons ago. It was our lowest league finish for 60 odd years.

Yes because Murphy our top scorer was sold without a replacement found!

Seems very similar to this year.
