Irvine was getting dogs abuse after their first goal, definitely his man. Second goal - when a six foot plus striker heads in a goal from a cross in open play, stood centre of goal eight yards out, it’s crazy to blame a midfielder. The centre backs should be organised enough to patrol that area at all times.
There was at least two other occasions when crosses were poorly defended. One ended up looping into Marshall's hands (Actually Bob, it was a stunning save. Think Banks/Pele only without the unnecessary diving - perfect positioning), the other a pinpoint accurate header from their larker which nearly took out the linesman.
As it stands, Mazuch when fit will get his place back. Him and Burke potentially the best and strongest partnership for me
Their big CB Ajayi had a free header in the last minute, which he ‘fifty-pee-headed’ high and wide under no pressure. ****ing Henriksen.
Two styles of football on display last night. City playing balls to feet ...Henriksen playing in front of the back 4 collecting the ball and moving it on ... lots of 1/2s .... turn and go ...... that`s how our goals came. Rotherham using every opportunity to lump the ball into the air ...... throw ins ..... long goalkeeper`s kick forward into our penalty area and the corners ... using the line of attackers in our penalty area that England had used in the European Cup. As part of the constant high ball bombardment they had number 24 Smith not only a tall awkward player to mark but one that constantly used his arms head and body to foul Burke, De Wijs or whoever was marking him. I`m sure he will get more than one red card this season. I thought the referee had an excellent game picking up most of the fouls/assaults on our players and seeing that the match was played under F.A. rules and not those of the R.U.F. rules. All in all a very good exciting game of football with the footballing team coming away as deserving winners.
'Tis the chance to which I referred. I'd have scored, as would most of the posters on here. Apart from the ones too rotund and unfit to have made the run in the first place.
I know it's a cliche but the players gave everything. We lack a lot of quality and experience which Adkins knows but without Ehab signing the cheques **** all we can do other than back what we've got. Rotherham and Sheff Wed are worse than us on what I've seen so we only need one more.
Saying that Henriksen 'lost' him is being generous to him. He didn't even bother speeding up to jog alongside him so never had him in the first place!
The worry is that the **** clubs are **** after 4 games but will now be motivated to sign new players, especially QPR who can't sign anyone in January.
It was indeed a really good match to watch and I agree with most of what you say but nevertheless the defence still looks dodgy and isn't fixed yet.
Don't. Think they can signanyone now. Holloway alluded to it on efl show. Surprise yourself post something positive for a change.
