Good Morning Everyone Marcelo Bielsa declared himself 'happy' saying that last night's 2-2 draw at the Liberty Stadium was a fair result. He also admitting defensive errors denied Leeds United the chance of a fourth straight league win - if only someone suggested to him that he needed another centre back... As we know Jansson put his back out on Sunday; this was followed by Cooperpulling his hamstring minutes before the start of the game. This meant moving Ayling from right back to centre back and giving a league debut to young Jamie Shackleton. Fair play to the youngster he brilliantly set up Roofe for an equaliser just before half time, but his defensive display was lacking from time to time. Who would have thought that we'd be playing Berardi and Ayling as centre backs - Square pegs in round holes for Bielsa magic? Lets quickly talk about Swansea's goals - before I do, did you know that McBurnie was on Leeds books until the age of 14, I think the commentator may have mentioned it... In Bielsa's own words Defensive mistakes cost us! Who was at fault? Should Peacock Farrell have done better? Phillips was substituted after 30 minutes, sure, he had been booked, but was it the right decision in your opinion? Was Baker's performance any better? Heading? Will Leeds come unstuck this season from set pieces due to their lack of height? Who thinks after this defensive display that Bielsa's attention in the loanee market will be more concentrated on another central defender?
Morning all. Ive been kind of looking forward to seeing how wed handle going behind and what the response would be. It was excellent, twice behind in a foreign country, and we handled it impeccably. Very impressed with BPF, two great late saves kept us alive. Shackleton looks a great prospect already. Alioski poor and expected more from Harrison given the glowing reports and youtube videos from the MLS. All in all though, satisfying to see Bielsas tactics will work against all types of oppositions
I think its easy to fall into the trap of we could have done better, and looking at mistakes which cost us goals. Yep mistakes cost goals but this isnt a £500m squad. Swansea were a good side, played good attacking football and were a serious threat. We came back from going behind twice, heads didnt drop and we fought on. Good to see and it was exciting to watch. Knowing we go behind and can fight back is a 1000% improvement on last season. Morning all.
Good Morning to Matt and co from a dull Bardsey .due to family commitments I was unableto see the game can I have highlights pleaseand Kinnear get Foyth and a defensive enforcer now!
If that's the worst we play all season we will get promotion. A makeshift defence lacking height and if it hadn't been for McBurnie we would have won. So although we only saw flashes of brilliance it was on display especially in the second half. Alioski and Phillips were flat and as Eire said Harrison didn't do himself justice although he will. He could have won the game for us at the death but hey ho. Thats 2 former prem teams in 2 weeks and we have taken 4 points off them. Swansea will be in the mix on last nights form and the 2 best players on the pitch were fer who kept us out and McBurnie who bossed up front. Klich was subdued a bit too but Baker still performing. We all see it differently but maybe last night showed we need 2 quality additions at least
Morning Ell and all Can only echo the thoughts from above, really enjoyable match between two good teams and a precious away point at one of the favourites. When we went behind again in the second half I caught myself thinking we are so much more of a joy to watch than we have been for many a season. Have a great day everyone
This summed it up for me because when we went behind I still thought we would win, yet last season I was hiding behind the settee
Morning all When talking about defensive errors Leeds weren't the only ones guilty of this, our second equaliser was down to defensive errors by Swansea, so kind of evens things out a bi Berardi Leeds best player for me Also Phillips face was a picture when sat behind Bielsa after being subbed, looked liked he'd been placed on the naughty step
Morning Brendan, all I'd say is 4 games gone, and two central defenders in the treatment room. I sincerely hope we now see a decent loanee cb come in.
Good morning all Agree could do with a quality tall central defender, but doesn't look as though one will be coming any time soon.Any more on rumours on Huth ? although i was shouting for him last season, not sure he would be mobile enough at his age & Bielsa's set up. But i am sure Bielsa has identified this as a matter of urgency,we won't see any rash signings but when one does come they will be quality, and we will all say yep he will do nicely thank you. Very pleased with last nights performormance, the team showed grit & determination, although not at our best were still able to fight back not once but twice to earn a point against a quality Swansea side who will be their or their abouts come the end of the season. If we played that match last season we would have got mullered.so overall last night was very positive for me,as were not only a very skillful side, but also damned hard to beat, were now top and deserve to be their, and from what i have seen so far,it's gonna be damned hard to shift us.
Morning Doc, Swansea had done their homework on us. They made is difficult for Peacock Farrell to pall the ball out from defence, they got back quickly defending in huge numbers and played a similar high tempo game in midfield.
Morning Marcos, I feared the worse when it was revealed that Cooper had got injured in the warm up, and Shackleton hard to start. All in all, it was a point that we worked hard for.
Yep both teams came off last night, knowing they'd been in a match, and probably both thinking thank god we don't play them every week.
Morning all....a good result against a good team, I was most impressed with the character shown in twice coming back from a goal down, doubt we'd have done that last season.
Morning all... Last season we’d have never have come from behind twice, before the game even the Swansea fans were complaining about their lacklustre showings, I wanted three points... Seeing how well Swansea actually played a point away was an excellent result, they certainly were not lacklustre last night.
Morning ristac, Swansea were ten fold better than they played against Birmingham, and 3 fold better then they played against the blunts
