Agree that we could have killed the game off better and sooner. But even then, we still looked pretty comfortable. I mentioned earlier - if we were a fraction shaper, we would have won 4-0 at least. We still created quality chances.
There is also a practical reality: At this rate even if we match City win for win, the GD may run away from us. In a tight race, GD makes all the difference. That is why when we are on top, we have to score.
This is going to the hardest thing to take, if 90% of teams role over for city like Hundersfield it's going to be a long season. We will need other teams to have a go at them, try to put pressure on them.even if they get beat atleast it's given them a tough game. At the minute, they can stroll round the pitch under no pressure, secure in the knowledge that the oppo sent aren't even thinking of mounting an attack.
Really trying to make sure that this penalty goes down as controversial on Sky and bbc Think the one he gives it for is the softest of the touches but if you look sahko actually grabs salah after failing to tackle him. I think it was just given cause he kept niggling him. Said many times before that I always judge it on the scale of if it was against us - particularly against Utd would I be Angry and the answer is I would not really complain - I would be mad as **** at sakho (been there ) but no real complaint with that decision. It was a stupid pen to concede Imho
Agree but with all attention on him it may create space for the others to do what salah did last season
If Salah had not gone down, many people are going to blame him Mamadou Sakho was crude and unprofessional.
Yeah, we did that towards the end of last season too and we look so much worse. Salah isn't a number 9 and works best out wide with space cutting in.
To not give the pen is saying that two hands holding an opponent while you trip both legs with your own is now a legal tackle That would be controversial #precedent
Exactly what I thought last night. Start of last season he was playing wide coming into the centre. He was exploiting the space left behind when the opposition fullbacks went forward and therefore having a run at the CB's. So far he's been too central meaning he's being marked by the CB's, having to wrestle and turn them (which he's still good at) instead of running at them (which he's better at). It also means that Firmino is being forced out of the middle, he's dropping deeper. Now its only been 2 games and we've won both, so can't complain too much, but I think we'd be better if Salah were to start wider and cut back inside like season.
since i have internet again , well till tomorrow morning when the decorators reappear at 7:45 , my belated thoughts which are almost certainly repeating what's already been said. Felt surprisingly comfortable even if we didn't really play that well. Defence coped really well with CP apart from a couple of incidents and Allison seemed really comfortable and thought VVD had one of his best games for us. On the MF thought Gini was the stand out player even if the wow moments were from Keita. Upfront only Mane really firing atm though whilst looking out of sorts Mo still caused havoc. Nice to win "ugly" particularly away.
