That HDM article is full of flaws - it's only looking at transfer fees and not wages (wages being equally important) In our case, yes it looks like we've spent a couple of million BUT when you take into account the wages we'll save by releasing most of our top earners then we've probably saved £15m or so which then reduces the spend to a negative figure. Ehab has used the incompetence of the writer of that article to further defend his WITHDRAWAL of investment.
