Well with the news that Mikel Arteta has made a £10 million move to Arsenal in a late transfer on deadline day, the media are poised with everton the biggest losers in the deadline day scramble, they couldnt be further from the truth, as it was spurs.

Not only that with the departure of Arteta to Arsenal it paves the way for midfield maestro Phil Neville to pull the strings from midfield over the coming season, the 33 year old has the tecnique and touch of any spaniard playing in the Barcelona setup, but has been restricted over the years due to his right back and captain duties.

The ex united creative stallwort, has the vision of an eagle and given the opportunity will open up defenses as easily as a fisher price lock, throw in the West Lancs ringer in Denis Stracqualursi upfront and it poses a terrifying prospect for anyside lining up against the blue side of the mersey.

So despite the media stating its been a bad day for Everton they are most definately wrong, it is most likely the shrewdest move Moyes has ever made.

I admire your unbridled optimism. I'd rather have it grounded in a greater sense of commitment and action from the club's leadership/management, than trying to suggest Moyes has some cunning masterplan in mind, as he strives for sainthood amongst his devoted Bluenose followers (and the LMA...)

Give me 'reality' every time. And thank you KK and Steve C for some great business over the summer - nothing flash, just a long-term vision of team-working, hard work, cohesion and purpose. The Liverpool FC Way. GKRK.

good kop red kop oh its his masterplan alright and everything adds up.

we all know that moyes would love to play a 10-0-0 formation, its been his dream since he pulled on his first pair of tighty white-ez, and backed up by the fact for the 4th season running we dont have an attacking coach at the club, sell 2 strikers and arguably our most creative midfielder, and replace with an unheard of argi playing in a league thats on a par with a local sunday league divison.

moyes has got what he wanted, a team full of defenders and no attackers worth having.

EDIT: but on a serious not it looks asif 23 million is off the financial burden on the club, so we should be financially ok for a season or two now, 120k off the wages a week and around £16 million in in transfers, straight to bank no doubt, but 7 players light since january and only 2 in for a squad thats bare as it is.

You're confusing me now. So you were being ironic in your original post? A bit obscure, don't you think? Particularly on an LFC board where we don't really care about St. Davey or that overblown ego on legs, Kenwright.... Can I suggest you go for a recruitment drive on your own board? GKRK.

    Morning Lettuce.

All joking apart (and I commend your humour), that was a sad day for Everton. I don't know what this season will bring for you, but you have my sympathy (paraphased quote from Alien) :emoticon-0149-no:

It was a sad day for Everton, Arteta was their best player and as Expat says their only creative player. Things are looking grim! I hope the worst doesn't happen.

luvgonzo can only hope moyes doesnt see this and play neville in midfield, barkley could prove to be an instant hit, so far hes been head and shoulders above the squad, on reflection it probably was good business from us, but disappointingly too late to really bring in a player of note.

Have to say the sarcasm was pretty obvious to me given the identity of the op.
I agree with RHC on this, and for reasons I've outlined in the past, I don't want anything really bad to happen to the blues- just enough to give us a good laugh at your expense.

Selling him would not have been such a disaster if there was a replacement purchased, don't know much about barkley but I take it he's a young player so it will be a risk, but when you don't have any alternatives what do you do?

    Depends on how you define business;

financial wise, short term then yes the money was needed and will be useful.
Football wise, think it is a pretty dark day for everton and I think you will struggle this year but will prob stay up.

Be interesting to see if moyes can lift the squad after such a blow.

I shouldn't worry about that- the idea of Moyes following our board to pick up advice on tactics is one of your more outlandish fantasies I think.
Anyway, I think you're going to need that sense of humour in the coming months so hang on to it.

I was talking to a BS in the pub last night when the Arteta thing was being discussed on the box. Then it was off and I thought sense had prevailed. Obviously not. I don't know how good this Barclay is, but why make 10 mill and not do anything with it? The more I think about it, the grimmer it gets. Keep smiling though, Lettuce, me old cock sparrer.

I think the banks have said look you have to sell and we have.

Barkley will be better than arteta and in all honesty has he really been the same player since his injury 2 years ago? probably not at 29 this was our last chance to cash in so i can see the sense in that, but why leave it so late this has been on the cards since fab left and should have been done then, but i personally think its been left late cos we cant spend any of it and if it was any earlier their would be outrage that we are not lol.

yak never played in the last 2 years really, and beckford was imo our best striker but not cut out for the prem lol, so god knows how we will do with the argie hahah.

big victor is the main man now, and what moyes sees in training must be truely incredible.
