Is full of ****. We clearly needed to get a striker in and we didn't. Yes we've brought in some decent players for modest fees, but as pardew said himself:

“The only way we can correct it is by success.” “We will get a striker and left-back over the line, 100%.”

You're wasting your breath mate. The delusion pills being produced these days are stronger than ever, as evidenced by this board.

No doubt Partridge will be on BBC Newcastle tonight saying fans don't understand how hard it is signing players.

I can't understand though how people can still think that way. After the last minute "bid" for N'Zogbia and now this carry on with Ruiz, how can people not realise that Ashley has no intention of moving this club forward and wants to make a quick buck so he can bugger off elsewhere.

i am happy with who we've signed ...what i'm not happy with is the fact we've needed a striker and known this for quite a while so why the **** didn't we get one in when we got Ba in instead of waiting till the last minute,it's obvious we had no intention of doing so

I always said I'd reserve my judgement of the board and Pardew once the window shut.

I'm actually pleased with the players we've signed.

I think we've replaced a fast failing Nolan with a younger, fitter Cabaye. Enriques replacement excites me and I can't wait to see him play. I think Marveaux is better than Routledge. Obertan has looked good in spells do far but his confidence is building and I think he'll get better.

Miffed about not signing an additional striker but I reckon Ba will improve and when played with the likes of Ben Arfa; they can form a good partnership with the flair of Cabaye, the pace of Obertan and the wing work of Jonas and Marveaux.

As for the delusion pills comment? No. I'm not on 'medication' but I view the changes to this squad with optimism and excitement.

I wish i could share you're optimism. All good and well we have the makings of a decent team but, the African Cup is worrying thinking who we will loose to that. Also the injuries we will pick up as we always do will hurt us no end.

Agree totally, we could have done with a striker, but still a good window.

Dont like that Pardew is scapegoated either, he obivously wanted to sign players, but has to convince the most difficult board in the league to part with money to do that.

What's with the negativity of some fans?! We had a fairly good window compared to some teams!

We've done well to pick up a few cheap and decent players who we've been scouting but we are left with only 3 cbs, 1 (right footed) lb, and deadwood like Perch, Smith and Lovenkrands are still on the books. Up front, Ba might actually get as many goals as Carroll- but taking such a cheap option along with the other negligent footballing decisions outlined above just shows that Pardew is facing a losing battle to shape the squad for Premiership improvement when the owners only ambitions are financial.

What's wrong with that? It's like complaining that Jonas is a right footed LW, stupid argument.

Especially with Jonas ahead, the great thing about Enrique last season in particular was his ability to cross from quite deep. The kind of balls he could swing in with pace are not possible with the right foot, so we potentially lose an attacking threat - i'm sure Santon will offer other things though.

In fairness I think he managed to do that also .. as is reported £7M was offered for Erding, £7M was offered for Maiga, £10M was offered for Cisse, £10.6M was offered for Ruiz (panic) ... if they would have been accepted by the clubs who own these players and terms agreed the money would have been spent .. if they weren't willing to come for whatever reason then I'm not sure what the folk on here who think we should have done something else would have done?

I'm sure we'll get the usual 'it was a duff bid just so Pards can say we tried' brigade .. but I'm not sure how that is substantiated? is the Chelsea bid for Modric categorised in the same way?

If we'd bid £3M for Cole or £4M for N'Gog and got either of them we'd be having all the same conversations today anyway as these were deemed useless players as expectations were high ...
