I think the defence needs to bed in. Un fortunate injury to Burke.
    Bad idea to move Lichaj.
Bowen was our top scorer last season.
I think. The formation is wrong.
Growshitski provided a lot of assists last year. He also took the team up the pitch and took the pressure off. We've not seen him, and may not see him, yet.
Milinkovic was brought in to do that I think .not seen enough of him yet to see if he's any good.

We've lost Dawson and Larsson from last season really. Marshall is doing as well as greegsy.
Campbell isn't a loan striker, we all know that. So don't shoe horn players to fit your system. Change your system.

Teams need time to settle, time we don't have.

I know some think Burnsy is a doom monger , but I think he's a realist and I agree with what he said on Saturday that unless we get 4 quality loans , we have no chance . They need to be good enough to walk straight into that team and make a difference . We all know Wilson and Hernandez saved us, Bowen can't do it on his own . I just don't see enough goals in that squad . Appreciate it's still early but looked to be the case before even a ball is kicked, the majority of the players on that pitch Saturday just aren't up to it In my opinion , no leaders either .

Agreed, but we also have absolutely no bite in the midfield at all. Sides are simply not frightened or wary of us. In fact, my feeling is that we are getting bullied off the ball at times. I fully hear what you are saying re shoehorning players etc and I'm never convinced it works. However, with respect to Dicko and Campbell I just don't see any goals. So to trash my previous sentence I do wonder if giving Jarrod a start as the main or central striker might work, especially if the deadline passes and we can encourage Kamil to give a a **** - at least until Christmas. For sure, sides have got wise to him and putting two men on him etc, but perhaps a bit more space to reek havoc with decent service or link up with either/both wingers might unsettle defences.

    Couldn't agree more about midfield.
    But give nige some credit.
He wanted onuha as an experienced centre back and he wants/wanted cattermole in centre midfield. So he is aware.
Fc and Dicko, Unless they're given a chance to play together we will never know.

You're right burns loves to be negative.
Yes we need a centre half, a centre forward and a centre midfield. We might not need a centre forward if we play two up top and play to fc and Dickos strengths.

I do admire you try and stay positive Chazz and not be a miserable **** all the time like most of us, I just don't see it , even our decent players are too inconsistent . Toral will look ok for 5 minutes; then like a pub player the next 5.

Don't misunderstand me Chazz, there was no criticism of Nigel there. I have a lot of faith in Adkins and fully support him. I think the Burnsy interview was actually very good (and much needed) in the context that we can see he cares and wants to do well. That frustration was as much about passion to do well and give it a fair go. As you know, he's too long in the tooth not to know how Ehab operates and what's going on, but I hope the owners/Ehab doesn't push it too far on this one or we are really and truly screwed. The sort of young players we have need the guidance and support that Adkins can bring. Again as you know, we have some good prospects, but occasionally they need to be taken out of the front line. To do this, he has now signalled very publicly that we need a certain type of player and the depth of players to do this. I hope Ehab is listening.

Saturday showed we’re desperately missing a do-or-die leader on the pitch. No one in our current squad can do it, except perhaps Lichaj and he’s only just in the door.

Dawson, meyler, larsson, greegsy - all of them capable of rousing the team by inspiration, example or plain fear. Henricksen could just about squeak into the inspirational category if he could play consistently for 90minutes at his best, but he’s got a while to go to reach meylers cult status (ie zero to hero in fans eyes)

If Adkins was any sort of Manager he’d hone that 3 lots of 5 minutes a game into a consistent 15 & either hook after a quarter of an hour or bring him on for the last 15.

    **** Manager, Adkins out.

Based on Saturday, pick any 4 players from the National Conference, abject goes only part of the way in explaining what was a dreadful performance all round, not just the players but also Adkins and his management team! Does Adkins do anything on the sideline other than communicate get air in your lungs!

Meyler could have provided the leadership we lack, wouldn't have cost much to keep him either.

We'll never know, but if Reading could afford his wages, it does beg the question!

Must say I think Henriksen is more than a squeak away from being inspirational at the moment! I don't get any sense that he rouses the team after they concede a goal for example but maybe I need to look closer next time we concede one! I think the lack of clear leaders/ characters is a big issue at the moment.

Adkins deserves credit for turning Marshalls confidence around after the first few games. I think we are doing as well as we could be with so few players up to the standard required too. If you don't have the players available you could tweak the formation every week with little change in fortune. If we do go two up top he has to do a similar confidence job with Keane, who has to be the one of the two, can't see any point in playing Dicko and Campbell up front together. I fancy us to beat Rotherham tomorrow despite everything, they are short in midfield which could even things out for us. Time for Henriksen to show some form . 2-0 for us, just like village idiot Chazz predicts.
