Is it all really down to this **** that people aren’t going to watch City? How many people are sick of big transfers & wages that get talked about? The topic of Burnley winning the league & others, cup runs by small teams on the RIP thread. It’s not really going to happen anymore. I always thought that football would be a priority for me, but on a Saturday afternoon I just click on SSN & check the scores. I still have a bit of interest, but not as much as I did. Will I ever get it back?
Either an empty seat or a little thank you for somebody doing a difficult job that saves lives. I know which I’d rather.
I caught an episode of that. The owners are basically the Allams. Nobody tells them how to run their business.
Not everyone in the armed forces or the NHS saves lives or necessarily has a difficult job. If that was the criteria what about free tickets for Police, Fire Brigade, lollipop ladies, beach lifeguards, etc? I'd sooner see loads of kids on the empty seats.
Unfortunately 96% of seats for PL games being sold, attendance figures in the top flight the highest since the early 1950s, Cup attendances the highest since the early 1960s, the Championship get higher attendances than all but the PL and a couple of other European Leagues despite so much football being on TV whereas for decades the only way of seeing a live game was to go to one, suggests an awful lot of people are quite happy with things as they are. Depresses me and a lot of others of more advanced years though.
I would rather see OAPs in the seats with free tickets being served free beer from scantily clad waitresses and tots of rum on cold days to keep us warm. Not expecting it any time soon though...
You don’t need to argue with me about putting kids in seats. I’ve constantly posted about it and pestered the club too.
Been saying it for a while now. There is an opportunity to open the .Upper West and have it free for school kids all season.
They’d probably argue that it would have a negative impact on getting new memberships if kids are constantly going for free. There’d be no harm, in my opinion, letting schools take it in turns to go to a game. Could have 2-3 schools at a time. 100-200 tickets each. They’d make a stack back on food and drink.
It doesn’t have to be one or the other though. The lower bowl is half empty and the upper stand is totally empty. They’re cheap wins in terms of good publicity for the club too.
I remember the game they put loads of kids in the north stand - Burnley, was it? - and they generated loads of noise too.
