We could be a contender, but do we actually want to go back up yet? Even with a strengthened squad, we would still be far inferior to our team that just got relegated.
Would actually take going the opposite direction if it meant ridding ourselves of their grip. League 1, we romped it last time we were there.
At this stage it would be impossible to say, but it would help if whoever comes in has some knowledge of football.
WBA have gambled the other way and invested, 7-1 win yesterday. Their income cannot be that much more than ours.
That would depend on your definition of a good job. If you feel that taking a mid table Premiership side to relegation to the Championship, followed by a fire sale of the Clubs squad without any meaningful investment to strengthen the squad is "a good job", then I doubt if you will get many Swans fans agreeing with you.
You have to walk before you can run....We have been going down hill for years and we needed change.....Plenty of people were calling for it after all the so called good players were happy to pick up their over the top wages and not giving anything back......We know some were good players with how easy we could off load them ....So the Americans are spot on with getting rid of these high earners and going back to basics and starting all over again from scratch with a young eager manager.....How long will it take for pott's to get the new team up and running as a good team again.......Well how long is a piece of string, It will take as long as it takes and to be fair we have managed 7 points out of a possible 9 so that is an excellent start.......Onwards and upwards with a few downers on the way....The yanks are doing things the right way by slashing the wage bill that was massive for a team like ours....
I agree with a lot of your points Dai, but we’re authors of our own downfall. For the last two/three seasons our transfer policy has been non existent. Huw used to crow about it in the press that we had dossiers on managers and players, well what the hell happened after the sacking of Monk? We’ve stumbled along with piss poor managerial appointments and then bringing in players on inflated salaries. Why do we have the obsession in going back for ex players i.e Ayew and Bony, the only reason I can see why we brought them back as probably no transfer fee was required due to the outstanding monies owed to us on their outgoing transfer. We have been hemorrhaging money these last few years, where this money could have been better invested. Why the constant quote on outgoing transfers as undisclosed for it to eventually get out. I fully understand we need to cut our cloth to make the club sustainable without the PL money. What I feel is that the boards not supporting our manager, this is a man who left a very secure job to take us on, I’m sure he’s not stupid to think that players weren’t to be sold but for what the board did to him on deadline day was disgraceful, but not saction his one player he really wanted, was piss poor. We’ve made plenty of profit on our transfers over the last few years, so they should be backing the manager. We have a very young talented team, but they and the manager need help and reinforcements for the long slog of a season we will have. If the board would sanction a few loan players then we could be onto a special season. I do hope they back the manager and his team, if they don’t then they will have lost the perfect opportunity as if Potter does do well with this squad, then watch the PL vultures circle of him as their manager.
This post is from August 2016. Can you tell me where it says their aim was to get us relegated to the Championship? please log in to view this image
How can the Yanks be respected for doing a good job, when it appears they have not put any money into developing a squad. All transfers in have required sales first, since their watch started. Surely it only spirals down the way, the less assets you'll eventually have to fund any new recruits. With the standard obviously continually falling as you go along. We all get, 'getting our house in order', so to speak, but their intentions are not even subtle. You think when they raise 'x' millions in sales, to balance figures they would at leat put a little back for re-investment in the team!! But nothing, it really is all one way. .
FFs try and understand what they are trying to do here because we were being dragged down by the wages we were paying and getting nothing in return.....The players were taking the piss, The fans were crying out for change and now they are doing it that is wrong.....Well the Americans will be here for a long time and they are top of the tree businessmen who we are very lucky to have......We may not understand fully what they are doing and why would we but you can bet the long term is for the benefit of the club and i trust them 100% and looking on FB so do many others....
