Marcus, I think if he gets a bit of confidence back he can see us thru back to back promotions. Confidence breeds confidence and you could see a team spirit today, he was never Usain Bolt FFS ....these Cattermole knockers
Win is a win. 3 points. Clean sheet. Unbeaten in the league. Youngsters and new lads playing with pride with the badge on their chest. What more can we ask for right now?
Cheers Rooch. Walking is a tad of a nightmare with a 15 year old daughter in tow. However, I think we've got enough to keep us occupied for the week. We're heading to the waterfalls tomorrow then cruising Windermere on Tuesday PS. Simple things like Rooch offering advice is one of the reasons I love this forum.
We've stayed there a few times, and it's one of Mrs. A.s favourite hotels . . . . the recent refurb has made it even better than it was
Dire? Which game were you watching ? We are playing good football atm. And we're still gelling. Dire was w h at we were playing under moyes
Aye there’s still a fair bit work going on at the back but we were in a front room with in the finished part and it was stunning. The food is ridiculous as well. Pricey but worth it, you don’t mind paying for that.
Exactly mate, you can only beat what's in front of you. Not getting carried away, it's the third division, but that first half we played football as good as I have seen in years
Aye the only dire part of the game was Scunthorpe and that was only because we didn't give them space to breathe let alone play football. That pressing game will take you far, the best teams in the world struggle against sides who are in their faces the whole game. There was lots of nice football being played and we were tactically astute, I enjoyed every minute of the first half and the second was just closing it out.
Hope you had a great day Bri, I refused to go back after the New Years day game against Barnsley when we defended our 18 yard line and got stuffed 0-1. I have enjoyed the games up till now despite the league we are in, hopefully we can push on from here.
It was a class day mate. The shadow has lifted and momentum is building for something special. It's a good match day experience again. We have a owner with their heads screwed on and a squad of players performing like it's an honour to wear the shirt. Screw the Prem, we've had the best times chasing promotions and they were really special seasons. We get to enjoy football again mate.
I said exactly the same to my brother-in-law today, sick of seeing crap football over the years but I have been really impressed with performances in the three home games so far.
Who got MOTM? I'd have given it to Maja, scored a great goal and did everything you'd want a lone striker to do despite physical defending. Also showed some choice selections from his bag of tricks that I've only seen in clips from under 23s/pre season. His best game for us by far. I won't mention the sitter he missed haha.
Think Power got it but Oviado for me like. Though it could be anybody from Maja, Power, Oviado or Gooch, all played very well.
I thought Power was quiet in the second half but he was excellent in the first, proper team player. He'd make a good captain. Oviedo was very good all game and got two assists. I thought Baldwin was another contender, must have been close to 100% passing and won every header.
Everybody was quiet in the 2nd half. Game was won and with a busy schedule ahead I understand why they did it. Shout out to Catts too, looks a lot more like his old self now he doesn't have to cover so much ground, Just sat in front of the Defence and did a proper job.
I thought Maja was one of the few who tried to crack on in the second half despite looking knackered late on but yeah the whole team quietened down and I don't blame them. They kept the pressing game up at least which got us the clean sheet because Scunthorpe were a bit more lively in the second. Fitness levels look good. Catts was fine, had a tidy game. Didn't offer a great deal apart from that and McGeough and Power will be our best pairing. Glad he's making himself useful though I thought he was completely done.
