I was a little disappointed with the performance of the website late last night.. I ended up at ja606 where all was stable. I like this site better though.
Even LFC TV were late on the uptake. Sky reported the news that Raul had officially left and LFC tv were reporting the breaking news that he'd handed in a transfer request.
It was frustrating, I couldn't get on all day yesterday. A small site like this is going to have problems when hit by so many people. To be fair though Mick is always looking to improve things and I''m sure something will be in place by the next big event.
Yeah but he was too late, anyone with sense that run a website would of expected this and planned ahead. Like i said before, the one day when we really needed a forum we were let down. Anyone know of any good alternatives other than ja606?
It was very disappointing that the site failed yesterday. However, it is rather silly to just go off in a huff! We came here to find a home that was free(r) form the manic WUMing that destroyed other boards and to build a community that was attractive to us and others who might wish to join us. To that degree the site has been very successful. All new operations will learn from their experiences and I'm sure that Syd et al have learnt from yesterday.
I'm not going anywhere mate. I just want a decent alternative to join as well, so that important days like yesterday when this site will fail i can not spend the day trying to refresh a screen that takes an hour to appear. Overall this is a fantastic site.
I wasn't having a go at you Sky - oh yes I was I ended up using BBC and SSN but I did miss not having conversations with mates as the day progressed
Just so you lot know what was going on. Quad core Xenom processors aren't cheap and Mick is running this out of his own pocket
And the advertising money he gets Fair play to Mick, if he sorts it. Shame it wasn't done yesterday though before i killed those 2 innocent people.
How is the forum funded? Can't complain about a free forum with no ads that goes down periodically. I will say, some steps will help- during times of stress don't show images hosted on the forum- the top banners, the smilies, etc- go to a text only mode... won't look at nice but will carry the weight during times of internet stress.
Mick was saying that at first he funded the forum, but slowly advertising money started to help. He did say that he eventually wanted this to be a profitable business. Not sure how far he's got with it though.
At the end of day, we can't complain that much. Mick is paying for most of this out of his pocket and it probably costs a fair bit. Apart from yesterday, this site has been fine.
