There was a good documentary on the other night.....I think it was called Saving Poundstretcher.......if anyone gets chance to watch it I would recommend it....

Poundstretcher is owned by a "foreign" family, older father not involved and young son upstarts running it....surprisingly it is going tits up.

They draft in the no nonsense Yorkshire bloke in who made millions starting, running and selling one of the original £1 shops.....

He knows exactly how to turn the business around, but is constantly clashing with one son who keeps pulling him up on trivial matters he wants to sign off......

It was so uncanny, so "Hull City", you must watch it to draw the parallels.......

I saw one of the episodes where the Yorkshire bloke and son were going to effectively team up on the Dad in a meeting. After the meeting, the son blames the Yorkshire bloke for being too soft when they didn’t get their own way. Blame everybody else, kid.

One of the sons seemed a decent fella, but the one that was complaining about paying 40p too much for some plastic display sheets was utterly clueless. While he was worrying about spending a couple of grand on display materials, they had millions of pounds worth of bizarre food products going out of date. <laugh>

I couldn't give a toss what he thinks and I know he's a **** but he's not stupid, and even though he's local he's still blissfully unaware of what ***** the Allam's are.

Being insular is a common trait of Hull folk.

I've been nearly starting a thread for awhile about hull and the people and their attitude, since I've been working here for the last year.
I might just pm it to Castro instead.

This is my first, and will be my only post on this whole Allam's saga, I have read much of what more knowledgeable people have posted on these forums, whereas for me I am in Confused.com land. So, as I understand the Allam's 'invested' a total of £60 million in Hull City AFC, hoping to get the stadium, land, and other goodies into the bargain. Anyway its all gone tits up, so my question is, with all the Premier League payments, and considering City's outlay in managers and players, and other expenses, have the Allam's recouped their investment already, and any interest legally due, or are they still owed? Is what they are pocketing now, from parachute payments or whatever, the icing on the cake for them and they are taking revenge on the whoever they perceive as the enemy, and screwing the club into the ground, or both? Other than that I don't understand what is happening and that anyone could be so vindictive where at one time they were perceived as 'savours', all rather sad. I thought the David Lloyd era was bad, as of yet the Allam's haven't tried that trick although they did close an access gate from Argyle St.

Nobel prize winning minds would find it difficult to decipher what the situation is at City.

Lloyd did us a favour, his actions btought things to a head and eventually led to AP taking us over.
To be fair to him he was sold a pup by Wilby and came into a sport he knew nothing about.

As far as I'm aware, they've pocketed as much as they can, but they haven't reduced too much of the debt to Allamhouse. The debt is somewhat superficial, as they can just cancel it when they like (happy to be corrected) and are using minimal funds to keep the club running from the Allamhouse company. They haven't made a loss, that's for sure. They don't get anymore parachute money after January, so expect significant cost cutting if they haven't departed by the end of the season. I don't think they'll mind being in League One, it's cheaper.

Most of that isn't correct, they haven't taken the money out, they still need to repay the debt to get much of the money back and it's far easier to make ends meet in the Championship, than it is in League One .
