I think it was fair to give him a go , but he has suffered . Who would you choose ? For me it would be Bairstow . I get the feeling Root may be to " Soft " if that makes sense ?
There's no good candidates. Thats the issue. Root was picked as he was best batsman. You'd start wondering at this point
From the BBC . Between 1938 and 2016 England were never bowled out in a session. It is the third time in last two years it has happened.
Did you hear them this morning going on about why Root is not in the Slips ? Something about he wanted to keep tabs on the bowlers ?
Well , the impression I got was that , despite the fact he's Captain ,e still needed to keep an eye out / ear out on what was going on . Surely , a Captain should be able to tell ANYONE what to do , if , as a game moves along and that person wants change , discuss it . I think he's being Bullied .
Broad and Anderson will bowl how they like. End of. His job is not to tell them what to do, it's to give them the platform to take wickets. Big picture he doesnt need to be anywhere but first slip making calls on reviews and minor changes
When you've 500 odd wickets as a bowler you might be going by coaches plan but you set your own traps etc. same as batsman. when in middle you have to play your own game. nobody will be over your shoulder advising you. of course if you slog at the ball you get out quick but let's not kid ourselves here... the best captain trusts his players
Actually . Yes . Fair comment . If he trusts th3m , why is he positioning himself where he is . I am actually agreeing with you , is he to weak ?
