They've put him in solitary confinement for his own safety, and he needs some new batteries for his hearing aids:emoticon-0102-bigsm

From what I understand,he's been out of Hospital about 2-3 days, not going to get 100% better unless he has a kidney transplant though, but as well as can be under the circumstances.

    Agree 100% with that.
The Mods should also have in mind when looking at the length of any ban the age and health of the person involved. When you get older or are in poor health even 6 months can seem one hell of a long time when you have a privilege withdrawn.
Some on here should think to themselves. There but for the grace of God go I, I sometimes wonder what happened to compassion In this world. Yes maybe Glory deserved some kind of ban I say maybe because I have not seen anything that warrants a ban. IMO

Personally, I think the whole Chippy situation should be put to rest.

after 50,000,00 posts or so he obviously pushed the envelope and over stepped the mark. The mods did what they had to do after so many complaints.

Complaints are meant to be done in private, that way the mods can compare the reasons for the complaints.

Other posters, decent posters came back after Chippy got banned, these posters actually have decent civil debates and conversations, as opposed to Chippy's slagging and name calling; he never held a decent conversation or debate about football with anyone.

I personally prefer those that came back after Chippy's ban, chippy comes back and we lose 3 or 4 decent posters, the maths ain't hard to do.

He was the master of his own downfall, no ones to blame except himself. If you don't want to get burned, don't put your hand in fire.

It would seem we have now perhaps a little inadvertently happened upon the crux of the matter.

Should posters be banned because of complaints or threats to leave either by pm to mods or openly on the forum ?

I'll try to put myself in your shoes before answering and imagine I have received numerous such complaints from a variety of posters who maybe not all have an axe to grind but just think it would be for the betterment of the forum.

My initial thought would be to defend everyones right to freedom of speech and expression providing they are not breaking site rules. Having said that though I've read many racist posts in this forum that I find personally extremely offensive and have wondered whether they are actually against any anti racism laws, so some forms of free speech certainly enter into grey areas.

On balance though I would still conclude that banning posters at others request would seem to show either favouritism or acting on a minority view which would leave me as the moderator in an unenviable position.

As is repeatedly pointed out the ignore button is there to be used in certain circumstances and I do know some people have used/use it effectively. It would appear other people just cannot bring themselves to use which I would consider to be their failing if they still want to contribute to the board. Perhaps some posters have used the ignore feature but still feel that a particular person is naming then in personal attacks which everyone else is privy to but them. In such circumstances any post referencing someone who has you on ignore should be deleted in my opinion.

It's a complicated issue and I concede it's much easier to be forthright from this side of the fence rather than being bombarded by pms all the time whilst trying to also enjoy the forum.

All through my life I make decisions like we all do, I never make a decision believing I am always right, I listen to others opinions if they think I am wrong I will analyse what they have said. I do this not because I am scared I might have it wrong, I just respect that we all see things differently. If I am wrong and know I am it doesn't scare me, I just like to see things through the other persons perspective.

I am not claiming I was right to vote to ban Glory but I am still happy with the decision, nothing has made me want to change my mind, after this reply I am going to be posting another reply below and that is why I am happy I made the decision I did.

I was brought up on a council estate, once an older kid picked on me, my dad dragged me under protest to the street where the kid was hanging out at the time, I was about 8 years old. My dad told me to hit him, I refused, the lad laughed at my dad and said "yeah alright" and my dad repeated to me hit him, it was really a demand. I swung a fist at him, caught him lovely but as the lad was a good 3-4 years older than me it did little, the lad started laying into me, I was swaying fists and blows around, I don't know if many landed but I caught a good one on the lip.

My dad broke us apart and took me home, he gave me a five pound note, now 43 years ago that was a lot, he said to me always stick up for yourself no matter what and it was a good lesson, he wasn't doing much sticking up for himself mind you when my mum was going mad over it but still...

I wear surgical footwear, at school I was sometimes picked on and it always ended up in a fight, sometimes I would get battered, other times I wouldn't have a mark on me but the lesson my dad taught me stood me well in life. I then found myself often sticking up for friends who were a little timid and I remember one day watching my now brother-in-law watching a guy jump over his car. Ready for a fight I was amazed that he (brother-in-law) turned around and walked off.

It turned out he had never had a fight, he hated confrontation and he would always walk away rather than face it. For me personally, I ignore every derogatory remark by Glory aimed at Lifecheshirewhite, OLOF, TC, Shaks and others because I know how it is being taken. I then witness those who take offence at how Glory speaks to them and I totally ignore the claims of Bait and Banter because I see it as pure bullying <ok>

    Try being a super-mod then hun ;)

I was wondering about the number of times Glory's name has been referred to us over the years .... we are advised of board situations on the moderators board. If problems occur that need discussion between mods & us we usually open a PM so the mod board doesn't get over run.

Have looked over my PM since this board began & almost 20% of my PM have been with Leeds mods. Of them over 90% Glory's name was involved. Over the years your moderators have done their best to sort out the problems without bans being involved & have fought Glory's corner many time as they have recognised that he is a Marmite poster. He has been given many more chances than most.

I can honestly say there have only been a couple of other posters who has used up so much of our time .... reading through threads trying to work out who is pulling the strings. Glory has been a master on your board .... wumming ... bullying .... manipulating .... call it what you like depending on whether you have been a target or one who has just sat back & been entertained. There has been no vendetta from us .... just a recognition that he has run out of chances.

I would like to wish him well with his health issues & let him know that I'm rid of my STDs now ... I know he was concerned ;)

Ok I need to be careful wording this, as everytime I post about this subject, people get the wrong idea.

Whilst I agree as such TC, what happens if you sign up before one of those users mentioned, and thoroughly enjoy the forum until such a time as the second person joins. Eventually after such a period, you put that person on ignore, all well and good.

Unfortunately due to the posting styles of both those users, it gets to a point where every thread becomes a flame war, with multiple users becoming involved, either due to their own particular opinion on the subject or just to play devils advocate playing both users off against each other. At this point when virtually every thread gets derailed with the same reguritated arguments, other members decide to seek out their football discussions/banter on other forums. At what point do the mods decide that losing other contributors outways the keeping of those users that are perceived as being the reason for the leavers.

This is what people don't/havent understood when I have previously said I'm done with the forum, it is not down to individual posters as to the constant rehash of the same subjects time and time again in multiple threads.

I freely admit that I stopped posting prior to Leeds60(Mike) being banned (because virtually every thread wound up being about the same old subjects, and I admit that this was not down to one user), and started posting again once that ban was in place. Surprisingly, despite ME having an issue with the posting style of leeds60 , I never had a problem with Glory. Thus with Leeds60 on ignore (upon his return to the forum) and me happy to read Glorys posts, there shouldn't be an issue, except of course for when those two crossed, and the forum would descend again into chaos, with either folks rushing to defend Mike, or egging on Glory, at that point the forum no longer becomes a debate about football, or a partake in banter at least for me, it became/becomes regurgitated boredom, and again I will admit I was more than willing to publicly get on my high horse whenever this happened again, mainly because I didnt want to see the forum descend into the same chaos that I consider it had done towards the end of 2015.

It's easy to say just just let it wash over you, or place people on ignore, unfortunately being human beings we all react differently to certain situations or maybe just get fed up of reading the same thing time and time again. I enjoy 99.9% of the forum, I have one user on my ignore list, there are plenty of users who's posts I disagree with wholeheartedly but would never want to place those people on ignore, (I dont even ignore Sniffers posts :) ) but I felt at a certain stage that I would stay away from the forum for 6 months, due to my perception of a certain user. Thus I can also understand if others have a similar perception where threads revolve around the posts of other users, where it comes to the point that the forum no longer becomes fun for them. Surely at some point the mods need to take note and follow a course of action, which may end up with a user being banned for something that a lot of us would then consider to be innocuous as a single incident.
