Caglar Soyuncu isnt expected to be involved even if he has his work permit sorted. No other injuries so Puel has a fully fit squad to pick from. Here is what I would go with Schmeichel Periera Evans Maguire Chilwell Albrighton Ndidi Iborra Gray Maddison Vardy Subs- Ward, Morgan, Amartey, Ghezzal, Silva, Diabate, Iheanacho
Schmeichel Periera Evans Maguire Chilwell Ndidi Iborra Gray Maddison Iheanacho Vardy Think its too soon to cut Iheanacho
We aren’t long ball any more Ed, no need to bypass the midfield haha. I’d agree with that side with the addition of Ndidi and Silva as the central 2
please log in to view this image Substitutes Morgan Iheanacho Ward Amartey Adrien Silva Fuchs Ghezzal Mendy and Evans make their debut. First 5 min and Sporting Wolves have hit the crossbar and are all over us...
Just noticed that Wolves keeper is wearing the #11 shirt - their other senior keepers wear the #1 and #21.
2-0 Maddison - took a deflection but should be his. Genuinely didn't think we would be in this position at half time - Wolves hit the woodwork twice and dominated first 20 odd min.
Vardy sent off at 66 min - very hard tackle on Dougherty that left stud marks on his leg and no complaints from anyone.
Mendy, Pereira and Maddison all played very well. Jonny Evans looked worse then Wes Morgan for half an hour but grew into the game Puel finally went to a 532 and we looked solid afterwards. First time Amartey has ever played centre half for us Vardy’s tackle was a shocker and deserved a red Wolves may have been the better team but welcome back to the Premier League. Dont take your chances expect to be punished. Especially away from home.
Not seen the tackle back yet but sounded awful. Our 5–4-1 was solid but maybe more defensive than other teams versions? Never looked like scoring but also never looked like conceding during it
Damn he really doesnt want to play against Fleetwood does he I personally dont see why he was sent off. 2 players lunging in for the ball, Vardy gets there first and then its a tangle of legs. No malucious intent, not "out of control", not 2 feet off the floor Pereira showed today hes a wing back and looked great going forward but needs a back 3 with him, as he was quite often wandering out of position, exposing Evans who cannot play on the right side of central defence. Puels plan all along was to bring in Evans to have us begging for morgan back.
Vardy's ending up leaving an imprint of his studs in the other lad's knee - I'd say it was out of control as if it wasn't then his ban will be longer... Evans had a poor first half but got better as time went on - notably when Amartey was next to him. Can see us going to 3 at the back when the Turkish lad gets up to speed as well as Mendy having more game time- was really nice and tidy. We had a 3 man midfield for the last 10 odd min with Silva, Mendy and Ndidi - really seemed to work which bodes well for a 532/352 formation.
Maddison may be one of those players like Alli who has everything he touches turn to gold. Certainly looks totally at home in the Prem. Evans and Albrighton certainly took time to get onto the pace of the game Mendy was a surprise and while his longest pass forward may have been about 3 metres was very tidy. Zero input from Vardy when he was on the park so to score a couple and play with 10 and still win 2-0 against a side full of confidence was a great result.
I thought I read somewhere that bans only apply for the competition they were playing in at the time, this season. So Vardy should be able to play against Fleetwood. Can anyone confirm this?
