At least the NFL take steps to ensure that the league remains competitive and teams aren't just making up the numbers but have a chance of winning the title, if not this year then in a few years (amusing they draft well). When are Southampton going to win the Premier League?
Teams don't just make up the numbers in the Championship. I think it's the far superior league to the Premier League for that reason.
The only advantage of the PL is that you get much better media coverage and sometimes are on TV. Even having a bit of foreign exoticness isn't an advantage nowadays as there's plenty of exotic foreign players in the championship nowadays. Though when 90% of the league are foreign players, the English ones become the exotic ones. But still, feel free to join the NFL Fantasy league! You know you want to!
