They just keep winning the league. That's their level. They should be happy with it. There's no money in Scottish football. They'll never do owt in Europe.
Every time they meet someone decent they fail. Rogers isn't good enough to manage at a level any higher than he's at at the moment. Don't rate him at all and never have, hes as dour as our old mate dour Dave Moyes.
If you get used to winning EVERY game, even a point dropped must seem like the end of the world. A few Seasons ago I recall watching a MU, last game of the season match on the box. MU would be Champions if the won or somebody else lost. The end result was that MU didn't win the League. The camera's panned to their section of the crowd. The number of these that were in rears was unbelievable. They must have thought that they had a divine right to win it every year. On the bright side I laughed like a demented hyena. It must be even worse for the Celtic fans. So who do they blame, because fans always seem to feel the need to blame someone. The Manager? The DoF our old friend Lee Congerton? The Chairman? The Board? But if the money aint there, it aint there.
Ian Abrahams said the scottish league is a pub level league! He retracted that after Jim White had a go and said rather a very poor league! This is proven completely by the fact the third division sides are quite easily beating scottish clubs to signing players - even one went to Salford in the non league as they offered him more money! It's a poor quality league - really poor actually and Celtic would struggle in the championship let alone the premier league! Just aren't good enough or tested enough
Celtic and Rangers ARE Scottish football. Putting Rangers down 4 divisions crucified the league, and it may never recover, even with a stron Rangers again this season.
While the first reaction by most Celtic fans, to the distress that Ranger found themselves in, was to cheer till the rafters shook, most of them put their brains into gear and realised that it did nobody any good in the long term. For a start they were going to have to miss their only worthwhile games in the season. What little money came in from TV was reduced and all the teams in the league were going to miss playing Rangers, at home, so lose out on that. In fact, apart from bragging rights the only, short term, winners were the lower league sides who, briefly, enjoyed at least one bumper gate from the visiting Rangers fans. If ever there was a case of amateur Administrators shooting themselves in the foot, this was it.
The thing is Celtic and Rangers would be huge teams in English football. They'd eventually be challenging for the premier league if they were generating the money that our football clubs pull in. No doubt about that one.
There is a parallel with NE football one is nothing without the other..... Which is why those imbeciles upon Tyne are shouting at shops
I’m not so sure about that, not many northern teams can attract top players outside Liverpool and Manchester, I can’t see Scotland any better
Celtic and Rangers are big names in European football mate. I couldn't see them having a problem signing top players. Massive clubs with huge grounds and huge support.
Academic point because it can't happen. For obvious reasons the SFA are against it. Previously UEFA have been against it. On the basis that turkey's don't vote for Xmas, the Premier League Clubs and The FA would vote against it. There is a perception that Glaswegian Fans have a tendency to creating trouble. True or not this would be used as yet another reason to say no. Then we shouldn't ignore the Leader of The SNP who is going to keep on calling for referenda's until she gets our Scottish friends to vote her way and secede from The Union.
Let’s be honest, the top Prem clubs don’t want Rangers and Celtic in as in5 years they’d be competing. For that reason alone, never happen.
