Maybe, but you also said at one point you were satisfied with our performance , and at the time we were 2-0 down after 30 mins .
Its still being in the game at 2-0 down. Last season it felt like game over at 1-0. There's the difference. Saying that, looking forward to changing CB's.
You obviously didn't watch today's game. Forgot he was playing for the majority of the match. Rather give Mo Ely a chance on the left and we need JWP on the right as most chances come from him and gives Cedric excellent cover too
I do agree but they have no cover from CM as Romeu and Lemina look like a car crash at the moment. I would try PEH instead of Romeu
Mario needs a rocket up his arse. So much talent, but no application. Can't defend that at all. Biggest disappointment so far.
Yeah that is a thing. For all the calls to drop Oriol, you know he’ll give his all. Perhaps dropping Mario would serve a dual purpose of improving midfield and waking him up!
Yep. And we can't get ten games in a still be saying he isn't trying. We have to resolve this quickly.
Think some of the feeling that we can win after being down at half is just new season optimism. We’ll see though. I can’t deny that we haven’t actually played better both second halves, either. I was less bothered by the feeling we couldn’t come back when down than I was when we were up or had the upper hand and I still felt we were going to lose. How many points did we lose on late goals last season? Had to have been at least 7 or 8. So yeah, even a full 90 minutes of last season’s relatively lackluster first half performances would keep us up. That’s something I believe a good manager con control. Hopefully, Hughes has instilled a bit better fitness or just some added grit/confidence.
The Toffees have B'mouth, Udders & Hammers in the next three. Today won't feel as bad if they are still doing the business by the end of that run.
From MH bbc interview.... On a late challenge by Pickford on Ings: "The keeper is lucky to stay on, he carries on with his boot. I am surprised the referee did not see that or it warrant any further punishment. It was a little bit like his [the referee's] performance."
Which is doubly problematic because our CBs are often too willing to allow strikers to separate from them and attack Cedric unaided.
Don't think it has been mentioned yet, but Bertie looked much more like his old self today, I think that most of our defensive problems were in the middle.
