The MF press was non-existent, but I put a fair
amount of that down to WC fatigue, Once the
other squad players return fully to the fold then
we should be ok on that front.

Similarly I hope that means we can have a
season long display from 30minbele, and spare
him the stress of having to play entire games
    too often.

Onto United now.....thought we were a bit sloppy in defence for the first 15/20 of the 2nd half. Can't have that happening too much If at all.

Shame we didn't sign 6 players, lose the first two games of the season while the new players get to know each other a have our usual slow start. In Poch we trust.

    Good but frustrating game.

Davies has carried on his poor preseason ( although at CB ) form into the season and if Rose is still around next month he needs to have a go playing.

Lucas my pick of the players but boy did Dembele coming on make a huge difference to our temp and calmness second half.

Hopefully Toby back in the good books

Deserved win in the end. Can still see we’re a bit rusty but we didn’t tire anywhere near as bad as the Newcastle game. Fulham had about 15 mins in the second half where they were completely on top and rightly got a goal.

I’ve criticised Poch in the past for his sometimes poor in-game management but today he ****ing nailed it. Amazing what can happen when you make subs before the 80th minute, eh? Dembele and Lamela just put us in full control, superb assist from Lamela for Harry’s first goal in August.

The goals from Lucas and Kieran ‘Son of Dier Hard’ Trippier were ****ing immense. A few of us have called on Lucas to have a big season, nice to see he’s begun to repay that faith.

Great three points, well done, lads!

When one has Dembele, Coco and Winks on the bench it it difficult to go wrong with substitutions, but then again, we have a great first 11 but no strength in depth. We should gave signed another 6 Sissokos in the Transfer window.

Remarkable number of good things today.

Three points, which is the main thing, and an improved performance, which we also needed.

Moura looks as good as he is. It's like a new sign of hope.

    Kane breaks his August duck.

Lamela, Winks and Dembele all played, and Lamela was particularly superb.

We saw both Alderweireld and three at the back, not coincidentally.

We also saw something I have particular hope for, which is only one of our cms against a bottom half team.

The use of Lamela and Dembele as supersubs seems particularly well judged. They're absolute quality at their best, but need wrapping in cotton wool, I think.

Got to say the fixtures did us a favor to start the season. It was clear we'd be out of sorts for at least the first game or two, and a couple of clubs that would do brilliantly to make the top ten was just what the doctor ordered.

I'm from Pennsylvania, so I think these things take care of themselves. If you put out twenty miles of Jersey barriers, the road fairies will come fix the road.

  14. Lucas ran his little legs off - and really showed what a great buy he was.
Tripps contribution to the game was immense without even mentioning the goal.
Dembele improved things immensely - total class and looked fit. Long may it last.
Equally Coco made a big difference and looks like a new signing.
Kane scores in August - WTF!! He still looks unfit, mind.
Dele overdid the flicks but was so involved throughout.
Eriksen flattered to deceive and was well off his best. Post WC-itis......
Im a big fan of Ben Davies, but his distribution wasn't great and if the DoF's got any sense he'll knuckle down and work his way back into Poch's good books.
Verts looked very slow and cumbersome at times. Up against Sessegnon he was struggling. Not like him at all.
Hugo kept us in the game at times. 2 great pieces if keeping.
Toby was, well, Toby and Big Dave did fine, although it a bit bullied by Mitrovic in the 2nd half.

3 good points, thanks very much :emoticon-0148-yes:

You know what, I was talking to a mate earlier who’s a Hammers fan (poor sod). He said his expectations this season are like all others. Not overly hopeful but with Pellegrini coming in plus several signing, he secretly thought they’d progress.

As usual, the piss taking ensued when we didn’t sign anyone. Funnily enough, he’s strangely quiet today.

All I can think of is that infamous season when we signed seven players. By the next year, most of them were gone.

I see the same happening at West Spam.

Particularly enjoyed the Spammers fans we ran into at Marylebone. Stupid bastards......<laugh>
