There are a lot of differences. Different players, different formation, different manager, different chance of that manager changing things up in the second half. Everton are a very different team. The only thing that is *actually* the same is people giving up here at 2-0 with 45 to play.
There is such a massive degradation in quality of our side. Even seeing that touch by Davies for them, where he took it down brilliantly and won a foul. We used to have players with the ability to do that, and now we don’t. We are ponderous, our passing is poor, our touches are poor. Everything about us is lacklustre. Second goal was leminas fault. Just let Walcott go. ****ing pathetic
I tend to to agree. But I think if our additions are good enough we should at least avoid relegation. I mean, we’ve theoretically improved at two positions at least. But especially this game. It’s basically last years starting lineup plus Ings. Why would results be any different?
In fairness, I think he’s been better than Stephens in this match. Those are LTL approved changes though! (And not just for this match).
At least we are a threat which is better than last season. Our defence lacks organisation and panics; hopefully Vestergaard will be back soon. Everton front four is pretty dangerous too. Though you feel that their defence is vulnerable.
Neither of them should be near a PL squad, yet here we are with both of them starting together. Hopefully the last time it happens.
I would say 2 - 1 would be a fair result so far. Unlucky not to score one of those chances. Would like to see Hoj, Yoshida and Armstrong on.
At least we are creating chances, and Danny was desperately unlucky not to score. Pickford didn’t deserve to save that after making such a cockup.
It's a bit left-field, but I wouldn't be against Long, PEH and Targett for both CMs and Austin. Move Redmond over to the right, tuck JWP inside. It gets a left-sided player on the left, and removes the two yellow cards in the middle of the park.
We are playing a top 7 team away from home, where traditionally we do not do well. Against a team whom have spent over 200m in the last 2 seasons. AND............suddenly our whole season is over and we are pathetic. We need to get real.
Thing is we are basically the same squad as last season. Anyone thinking we would end up top 8 (probably top 10) and a easy season is insane. It very much is going be a hard season Again if this season goes bad the board are to blame
I’d like to see Armstrong come on to link the midfield to the front two, and run on between them to give Everton something different to think about. Give Chaz another 10 then Gabbi.
They are cruising. Pickford made an abysmal mistake. Other than that, they’ve pretty much dominated. Even if Austin scores on that set piece, they would be going to the locker room feeling pretty good.
I said Lemina’s tracking back was pathetic, not the team. Watch him for our second goal. Embarrassing
