HULL CITY GO IN SEARCH OF A FIRST SKY BET CHAMPIONSHIP WIN OF THE SEASON WHEN THEY HOST BLACKBURN ROVERS AT THE KCOM STADIUM THIS AFTERNOON (KO 3PM).
The Tigers go into the game with one point from their opening two fixtures against Aston Villa and Sheffield Wednesday, whilst they will also be looking to build on the midweek penalty shoot-out victory over Sheffield United in the Carabao Cup.

The visitors, meanwhile, are unbeaten in their three games so far this term – with two draws against Ipswich Town and Millwall in the league as well as a comprehensive 5-1 victory over League Two Carlisle United in the Carabao Cup Round One.

    TEAM NEWS
Nigel Adkins was giving little away when he spoke to the press about team news ahead of today’s game against Blackburn.

Although he confirmed that a couple of players would be missing with minor niggles, he stopped short of naming them but said they may be back in time for the trip to Rotherham United next Tuesday.

“Games are coming thick and fast, we’ll rotate the squad around. One or two have niggles who won’t feature, but that may play on Tuesday,” said Adkins. “I’m not going to tell anyone the team at the moment, we have to assess someone and the last thing we want is to rule someone out for a long period.”

James Weir and Ondrej Mazuch definitely remain unavailable with knee problems, with Mazuch not expected to return until after September’s international break.

Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray expects both Danny Graham and Elliott Bennett to be fit for the trip to the KCOM. The pair weren’t risked for Rovers’ midweek Carabao Cup tie against Carlisle United but both have trained since and should feature.

Midfielder Corry Evans will make a return to East Yorkshire having played 97 times for Hull City from 2011-2013, but Rovers will be without Derrick Williams, Ben Gladwin and Jacob Davenport.

    PRE-MATCH VERDICTS

“They’re in a good place at the moment with a good manager. They have momentum and they are a good side. However, we’re looking for a win and we’ve prepared well for the game. All of the information that the players need is there and now we have to go out there and perform.”

“In every game at the KCOM Stadium, we look for the three points and Saturday will be no different. This is one we need to win.”

    KEY BATTLE
    Fraizer Campbell vs Charlie Mulgrew
Two players with a wealth of experience are likely to go head-to-head this afternoon and could play a big part in proceedings are Fraizer Campbell and Charlie Mulgrew.

Nigel Adkins has shown he has a lot of confidence in 30-year-old Campbell by starting him in the Tigers’ opening two Championship games of the season. The striker was able to repay his manager by grabbing the opening goal in last Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Sheffield Wednesday, which he will be hoping to be the first of many goals this season. The former Manchester United, Spurs, Sunderland and Crystal Palace knows he will have to maintain his high performance levels in order to remain in the side with Nouha Dicko and Will Keane ready to come into the starting line-up at any point.

Campbell is likely to come up against another very experienced player in the form of 32-year-old Mulgrew at the KCOM today. The well-travelled centre-back has experience of playing at the very highest level with Celtic and has been a huge success since arriving at Ewood Park. He will relish the task of keeping Campbell quiet throughout the game and it will no doubt result in an intriguing battle between the two.

    TICKETS
Today’s game against Blackburn is a Category B fixture – £18 Zone, £24 Zone 2 and £27 Zone 3. Tickets remain available to buy online up until one hour before the scheduled kick-off time (print at home) and in person from Tiger Leisure at the KCOM Stadium up until kick-off.

    REMEMBER THE LAST TIME?
Ola Aina’s first senior goal gave Hull City a 1-0 win at League One Blackburn in the FA Cup in January 2018.

The on-loan Chelsea defender rose highest in the 58th minute to head home the goal which ended a five-match winless run and put the Tigers’ into the hat for the fourth round draw.

Paul Caddis hit the crossbar in the first half for the hosts and Danny Graham missed a gilt-edged chance as Rovers exited at the third-round stage for the first time since 2014 and saw their 18-game unbeaten run come to an end.

    IN NUMBERS

I've seen just highlights. It was amazing comeback and very strange game too without supporters (empty stadium by UEFA decision).
They scored twice after red card to go into extra time. They scored four times after 4-1 (when they needed two more due away goal rule). For sure it's the richest team in Russia, Gazprom what to tell else, but they are reshifting after sacking of Mancini and Lucesku. There are too many players from different manager times, they are unstable yet. We'll see. Absolutely all big teams in russian league have really big problems for now ;)

I don't think Danny Graham is as bad as he's made out , and Armstrong is a decent larker up top . Today could highlight just what a scrap we will be in

We must be Danny Graham’s favourite club to play against!
I assume we’ll lose and have one point from a possible twelve
If that is the case I’ll take no pleasure from it (other than a good afternoon out and a few beers)

I said “I assume we’ll lose and have one point.” If I’m correct we will have played three

Yes, but 3 games is 9 points not 12?

Yeah, which unless there's been a change in the rules, would be a possible 9 points. 1 point from 9 isn't great, though.

It's seems the two who are missing through injury are Burke and Batty.
