Thought I'd give you guys an update on my team...…

Bridgend Street 2 Abergavenny 1...
The Street began life in Welsh League Division Two with a narrow win against a good Abergavenny outfit at Willows today.
Proceedings couldn’t have started any better when Jeff White scored with a fine finish after only 13 seconds to get us off to a flyer. The second goal in the first period went begging with us applying pressure which included hitting the upright and failing to capitalise on good chances.
Abergavenny began the second half in... the ascendency and brought three superb saves off our keeper Damo Lack.
The writing was on the wall though, and on the hour the visitors drew deservedly level although the nature of the goal was fortuitous when a mix up culminated in skipper Paul Fowler putting the ball into his own net.
The goal seemed to spur some energy into the Street with us now taking the game to Town in search of the winner. Nicky Davison uncharacteristically spooned a glorious chance over the crossbar following fine play between White and Mike Murphy.
The lads patience eventually paid off when on 81 minutes White earned a free kick five yards outside the area and up stepped Fowler to put the ball over the wall and just inside the post past the despairing dive from the keeper to raise the roof of the stand full of spectators.
The win was most welcome and arguably fortuitous considering that Town competed so well but previously these lads have played a lot better than today and lost games so manager John Jones was delighted with the outcome and can now look forward to the midweek game at Caerau Ely, who themselves got off to an excellent start to the season with a 3-0 win at home to Aberdare Town today.
