@Clb74 @AllHellLetLoose @Royston Vasey To the above cocksuckers, please telephone 01254-356950. The very helpful lady on reception advised me that cash turnstiles will be for the home end only, both terrace and seating.
Snap. I have one him inebriated at Chesterfield away. We have a duty to wider public safety - we cannot let a little cockney gobshite stand with the Northerners.
Elf-baiting aside, I think it's not very good of the Club to announce this barely more than two days before the fixture. Other Charlton fans planning to travel and buy on the day will be buggered as well. Why would this decision be taken so late? Are they concerned too many travelling fans will turn up and create a problem outside the ground? If so, that could surely have been considered a week ago, or a fortnight ago. Not yesterday.
Perhaps the police have advised that our risk element is attending. I hear Ivor is tagging along with Mr van Gerwen.
Reverse argument @lardiman - I've been going away for years, why would you take the risk of spending hundreds and travelling 520m in this case...not to get in? Only a Half Wit would do it.....and we happen to have one @baraettmattesvensson Only once have I ever struggled to get in - years ago when Leicester were playing at Filbert St. A quick detour via the Leicester SMT saw me make such a nuisance of myself. they let me in.
He did the same thing at Gillingham away last season and laughed at fellow Addicks sitting in the rain while he was under cover in the home end... please log in to view this image
A fair point. I'm not a very experienced away fan, but the few times I have hit the road I've always had a ticket (or an invitation to a box). Sat in with the home fans at Southampton when we beat them 0-1 with 10 men. That was good.
@Clb74 According to the British Transport Police website, they are clamping down on Saturday on fans travelling to away games without tickets. So you could have an empty seat next to you on the train after all.
Is this a ploy by Charlton to deliberately stop fans turning up and buying on the day thus ensuring they get their 5% on all ticket sales? Can't understand why they've made this decision so late in the day.
The pub crawl means that there are about three boozers within five minutes walk, so no problem. I'll be able to buy my ticket and get some pictures done, they'll go on the Groundhopping thread the following day.
