looks like a loan deal......http://sport.stv.tv/football/scotti...nder-jos-hooiveld-set-for-southampton-switch/
As I now live in Scotland, I'm mates with quite a few Celtic fans. This is what they had to say about Hooiveld: 'Dumb' 'Prone to costly mistakes' 'Absolute pish. Honestly you do not want him!' 'He was to blame for our exit in europe last season. He is murder' Hmm.. I'll give him a chance if it turns out we have signed him
Mentioned again on SSN. Even though Celtic fans consider him poor, he's done well in the past, so may just need another chance at a better club
For god sake, typical saints fans, shooting him down before he's even played. Happened with N'Guessan last year aswell no wonder he had no confidence.
He has something to work for, a club that is good to be at and a good attitude. Im really looking foward to seeing him have a go
Saints have completed the signing of Celtic defender Jos Hooiveld on loan until january. Jos played some games in the Champions League last year with Copenhagen. Good signing? Thoughts?
completely underwhelmed. Glad its a loan and not a permanent signing. his previous record is not great. Of course will get my full support and hope he is what we need. As many will say - NC AND NA are shrewd and must see something in him
Good, on loan. Initial thoughts; I don't rate Celtic and he couldn't get in the team, and he's played really very few games at the clubs he's been at for a player of his age. But you never know - it's a place where we need cover. Hope he does well.
I will reserve judgement until I see the lad play - it's not fair to do otherwise... Buuuutttt, Adkins previously said there'd be 'no panic buys' - well instead, here we are, with a panic loan. If you look at the facts of this transfer it isn't exactly something to inspire yourself to get out of bed early on a Sunday for. 1. Adkins doesn't even seem all that keen on the fella from what he's said on the OS. 2. It's a loan - not permanent... NC & NA can't rate him too highly. All of our other defensive targets were set to be permanent deals. 3. It's only until January which says to me that we will be in the market for another CB come the next transfer window... Ah well. We're still getting Macheda, Owen and Wheater on loan of course
Can't give an opinion on him. Appears to have lost his way at Celtic, but Nigel must see something in him so have to trust his judgement. Says on OS that at 6 ft 4 he adds some height to the defence. Presumably this loan is made with the possibility of signing him in January if it works out. Obviously, no more signings as Adkins talks about the carefully selected four players we've brought in. Says he didn't want to disturb the dynamics of the team. Must trust Adkins and his team to get the best out of a player who has done well in the recent past.
Not sure if this was aimed at me or not... My message wasn't intended to write him off, just relaying feedback from people who have seen him play. I'm looking forward to seeing how he gets on - the fact that he's left-footed and 6'4" is encouraging already
Agreed that we should judge him on his performances for us. Not disappointed but not super excited either, don't know if thats because i know nothing about the player or because he is only a loan signing. This could suggest that due to our top targets falling through he has just been brought in as another experienced head, although i don't doubt that NA and NC wouldnt bring someone in for the sake of it (he must strengthen what we already have). It would be interesting to see who we actually made offers for in this window, as if the media is to be believed we have been very active in trying to bring players in....its just through one way or another things havent come off.
Nah he's crap, I haven't seen him play but he didn't do great at Celtic so he must be awful. Obviously we have no money because we haven't signed kaka for 50 million. how can we only be second in the league? Adkins and Cortese out!!
I'm pleased with this signing. He's left-footed, 6'4" and he's only on loan, so we can send him back if all does not go well. Give him a chance!!
