I just want to see us give a good account of ourselves. Not really expecting much reward from the game, but as long as we don't capitulate or make silly mistakes and apply ourselves properly then that will do for today.
Couldn't have gone much worse. Still, we're only 1 down and seemingly used to having to come behind as I alluded to the other day. I guess the only way is up. Can't really play much worse??? How good are City tho?
We look dreadful, scared to death everytime City attack. Their fullbacks are destroying us in wide areas. Guendouzi has had a really difficult introduction.
Interesting first half. Some good things, some bad things.. Thought Guendouzi looked good. Xhaka, Bellerin and Ozil need to be more urgent! On the high press they have been a little careless at times. The constant playing out the back is stressful. But we do look Dangerous. Hopefully this will be like our Pre-season games and Emery will make tactical adjustments that turn things in out favour second half.
The only real difference I saw from these first emery 45 minutes was our insistence on playing it out of the back. A tactic which has not worked very well against this city side. Not much going forward just yet...
The players that were not good enough last season are still not good enough.Agree with Gary Neville it's going to take several transfer windows for Emery to get this team the way he wants and that will depend on the club backing him,which I'm sceptical about with this Kronke guy.
Na wasnt bad at all. City already look sharp. I thought we showed some encouraging signs. It was an unlikley task to beat this City side on his first competetive game.
Let’s not mess about, that was a pretty poor performance. I can see some sort of tactical changes (playing out from the back, high pressing etc) Going forward we were not good enough - I think mkhitaryan and ozil were the worst players on the pitch today. The worst part of all was our passing. None of our players seemed to be on the same wavelength, just constantly giving the ball away willy nilly. However, it’s going to take time to get going and play the style emery wants us to play. It’s just quite unfortunate we play city and Chelsea first 2 games.
City just looked sharp as they did last week against Chelsea - while our creative players Mkhi/Ozil and Ramsey all looked a little off the pace. There were some encouraging signs for sure. The high Press caught City out on multiple occasions.
