As I've mentioned whenever he's been linked with us (which has been a few times in the last few months) his record with injuries at both Monaco and PSG is an obvious issue, as he hasn't managed a season where he hasn't had a knee, thigh or hamstring layoff since 2012/13

Playing him in rotation with Davies might avert some of the risk, but the issue is the word RISK is used in that previous sentence.

As for the possibility of Rose heading on loan to Schalke, I have the mental image of Bentaleb and Stambouli greeting him at his first training session and asking "So what did you do?"

Bored of saying it and I know many don’t agree but this isn’t good enough.

 

From what I've been able to dig up online is he plays a lot like Dier when we don't have the ball, dropping back between the centre backs and reading the game, but in possession he's got a much better range of passing. While this leads to the inevitable "Norwegian Kante" comments, his passing reminds me a lot more of Huddlestone's as he can chip the ball 20-30 yards directly to the feet of a teammate on the attack - but he's far more mobile than Huddlestone ever was.

In short, he looks like the sort of player who could speed up the transitions from defence to attack that we need - but as he doesn't play for Barcelona the reactionaries will throw a bitchfit.

Agreed. Our squad is great but I can’t seriously believe Poch didn’t want to add anyone in order to kick on.
All our rivals have strengthened.
We must have money, regardless of the stadium. We’ve net spent ~0 for years now and the tv money coming in is obscene
