Cardiff and QPR were not allowed to offer a contract legally to an addict. Sounds bad but to protect the clubs and the player he was running out of protection. any club hoping for promotion cannot be worried about how a player may react to a set of given circumstances, so would have been advised against signing him. Remember this kid was at Spurs and Liverpool and played at all levels for England and still only 26. He was released and became a free agent so went to Scotland and plays football for peanuts, but hopefully seems to have sorted himself out. Any player is a gamble at the end of the day, its a case of mitigating problems. We could have spent a fortune on Vydra and he gets his knees smashed against Derby next week, game over ....

Hi Doc, good to see you posting again. Pennington also had another terrific game end of last season when he didn’t give Matt Smith a thing in the air. Went a bit unnoticed because it was a dead rubber but I think the kid is better than he is given credit for.

Very much doubt either of them will be leaving unless it’s stupid money. We are already lookin at another CB so it would be sheer stupidity to let one go. If the current squad was good enough we wouldn’t be looking to bring a couple of more players in either tbf.

Away kit delayed by a day. I wonder if a new signing will be announced tomorrow with it as it's deadline day I believe?

I know nothing about Dundee as a place so maybe doing it a disservice but I suspect a big city like Leeds holds far more temptations for his demons and / or his addictions however best you describe them. Maybe that's why he is currently sorted.

Seems that deadline day may be busy afterall as LDB should be heading out of the door and the Viera and De Bock cash could be used in 3 potential deals. Caulker may be a thing and Adomah may also be a thing as he has refused a new conract now. French Ligue 1 striker Moussa Konate’ was wanted by both Burnley and West Ham in December. Seems we have put a cheeky bid in for him? This story I saw yesterday but now got legs in 7 papers including Mirror. So as we know lazy journos make crap up and watch it get copied? Konate’ scored 10 in 24 in the top French League so should be pretty good in this league

City of the three J’s I believe. Jam, Jute and Journalism. I’m that interesting I remember stuff like that from 30 years ago!

Maybe Neil can confirm if he’s not too busy fighting his human rights campaign <laugh>

Pennington for me as he is a known quantity. He showed at time last year that he has talent and lets face it last season would have sucked it out of anyone. If Biesla has watched a tape of every game last season he has probably seen something he likes. I do believe that our new style would suit him better as well as a ball player. He would not take a lot of intergrating into the squad either.

Trust me mate, if you want to go off the rails, Dundee is as good a place as any. <laugh>

Lived in a similar sized town in Scotland for 10 years, had a ball. :bandit:
