A new addition to the Spurs ranks at last. Congrats to Harry and Kate on the birth of their second, Vivienne Jane Kane. The boy has a brace now!
Thank you sir. Sadly, old enough for the man to be a schoolboy hero of mine. Gilly, bless him. I used to 'drink' in the Bill Nick arms back in 2006-7 when the pub was run by the bbc. Nice to see it's still trading.
There are a few of us on here who were alive when Spurs won our first double (note first, I feel another coming in my old bones). Many of the younger ones are good lads but impatient fekkers, but they will mature with age. Some think that we have to spend £300 M every transfer window and sign every player who's name ends in 'ric, 'ez or 'nho. Others, like myself, think we are good enough to do the business right now. Where do you stand HCC?
I agree, 'Marquee' signings have worked in the past for us, but I have to say, having been a WHL regular for over 22 years, this is the first 11 we have had that i can honestly say that there are no weak links for a very long time. Weve had great players but in amongst hard working tryers. Weve now got a whole bunch of very good kids coming through, we havent lost anyone who we want to keep, new stadium, finally owners who seem to have the club's interests as a priority, a good manager and there is still one day left to buy someone. We get slaughtered when we buy too many (Bale £) and slaughtered when we act sensibly. Does make me laugh. A good time for our beloved club, but boy do we deserve it.
I know, I have a little bit of whl turf in the corner of my garden. When I get sad I go and stand on it on one leg. The new stadium is superb, but I love the old place, so many memories. But hey, the boys will give us new memories I'm sure. Cant beat a pint or several in the corner flag or antwerp arms tho, 10 mins before kick off. Its all good, we you read all the turmoil with the other 'big' clubs it cheers me up no end.
No, the very old pub (1800's) next to bill nick way (main west stand entrance) become a ticket office. It was a charringtons pub, part of the deal when we bought the ground of them. The corner pin (flag) was on the corner of park lane. Open all week but dead as a dodo apart from match days. The likes of Greavsie, Gilly, Mackay et al used to drink in there. Great photos on the wall. I once got very pissed in there with John Pratt and he got arrested!
