Just seen some stuff on twitter regarding caulker as it seems things are moving along. One Scottish sports journo said that caulker seems to have got to grips with his demons and has been brilliant for Dundee and he suspects Leeds will be good for caulker and caulker will be good for Leeds. Dundee get him for nothing and I'm sure will be happy to make some cash for him, but Rangers are chasing him too? If it happens it could be brilliant but its up to Bielsa
With regard to Ristacs question on the U23s CBs we have sent Liam Kitchen to Harrogate again until Xmas but our best player hasn't played for the club yet due to injury when he arrived last Summer. Finland International U21 star Aapo Halme is regarded as a wonderkid and it was Orta's expectation that after a season with the kids he would be in the first team squad this season, but the kid is about ready to resume his career and his dad says he's back in training. Expecting biggies from this kid soon
Think he got into gambling, drinking and sounds like he had a fantastic time ....... Seriously screwed him up and he fell from being an England International and prem quality CB to a player who could fly off the handle, go into depression, lost his wife....... But by all accounts hes sorted himself and suppose Scotland would do that?
with regards to caulker it seems like since he started playing every move/transfer has been a backward step, it's never a step up,i maybe wrong (some kind soul will point this out if i am wrong) but is he still good enough?. and with regards pennington isn't he the type of player ie playing out from the back that our manager likes. just saying.
So if he were at his best or if the demons had not have took hold we’re probably talking a £40m player? I know Dundee got him for free but why sell now, why not let him progress a bit more and triple his value it’s a bit of a concern, I hope he really has got over it.
Because you can’t triple your value playing at Dundee. What’s worse, risking 1.5 million + contract and wages on a player that might be washed up or take a player that’s highly rated on a loan. I also think Pennington will do well in a back three.
At the end of the day who comes and goes is decided by Bielsa, so if he says Caulker (Who has done the biz for Cardiff & QPR recently to rave reviews) is worth a punt, then I'm happy. If he has sorted his demons and is willing to have a contract that stipulates falling off the wagon...... We get an International CB for the price of LDB
Pennington, Pontus and Cooper (or Berardi) works for me with Ayling and Douglas as wing backs. As WJ said earlier Penningtons best game was when he played on the right and did what Ayling does now. It fell over because he had no cover, whereas under Bielsa cover is fixed and rotational. Pennington is a baller in my view
I think he might in a back three. I’d certainly take him over Berardi as the ball playing CB, controversial as that might be.
But if he did the biz for both clubs why isn’t he still at one of them and why was he given away on a free?
