Only time will tell but I think Arsenal and Liverpool will improve a lot this season. Chelsea could easily go either way and Utd have the biggest problem with Jose, he’s moaning already and the season hasn’t even started.
There's a rumour that Watford are in for James Ward-Prowse of Southampton for £10m. If there's any truth in that at all, then we should be jumping in for him. He's already worked under Pochettino and he played nearly every league game during his time at the club. He could become a very useful squad player and his set-piece deliveries are extremely dangerous.
Ticks too many boxes. We only go for players who tick as few boxes as possible, if any. Makes us look 'clever' apparently.
Don't really think Ward-Prowse is much cop to be honest. Available for £10m in an inflated market and potentially joining Watford? I think that says a lot about the player, not even a regular stater for Saints.
Southampton have had some **** managers since Pochettino, though. I don't think that they've helped Ward-Prowse to reach his full potential. His range of passing is excellent, but he drifts out of games when his team has to do a lot of defending. I doubt he'll move for £10m, but I think he'd be a bargain for the right manager.
Rumours circulating (from DL probably ) that Grealish has the hump with Villa for blocking the move to Spurs at £25m as he was promised by the club that they would let him go if that figure was offered.... Probably bollox, but there does still seem to be a possibility the deal could still happen.
I definitely think he’d be a bargain for the right club, I just don’t think that’s us. Similar with Cook, I feel him and JWP are too similar to Winks. I’m not Winks’ biggest fan - wait that sounds harsh, I’m a fan of Winks but get annoyed that he seems to hold himself back - but I’d rather he gets game time for us more so than guys like Cook/ JWP who I don’t feel offer much more than him.
I think the clearest case to demonstrate that value doesn't equal success is that Chelsea side that went from waltzing the league to finishing 10th in 2015/16, their crowning achievement being that they won the title for Leicester. That team's value was close to £800m yet did that translate into success? Value is only valuable if you are a selling club. The fact that we bought Alli for £5m and he is now worth 20 x that is nice but irrelevant until we decide to sell him - an eventuality I am sure most fans would prefer to avoid.
United now apparently want Boateng on loan rather than permanent. Join the dots and you get: We'll be back next year for Toby, thanks. I personally would love him to give us another year. If he can get his mojo back and focus, a back line of Hugo, Jan, Toby and Dave is obscenely good.
So if in the next 24 hours we sign Grealish and don’t lose any players will people be happy with that? I would probably take that right now as long as those staying who were hoping for a move are fully committed. Hopefully Lamela’s injury isn’t too bad and the World Cup players come back ready for Saturday.
