Will Kane, Alli and Eriksen trust him though.

I don’t think they will stick around unless we take the next step, the next step now is winning the league or at worst FA Cup.

Well Kane has certainly signed a long term contract. The others we have to wait and see.

When it comes down to it one has to be happy in ones work. To me it sounds like Spurs have a happy dressing room.

Based on Kanes August performances, if he was at United, Citeh, Chavski or even Madrid, he'd spend the next 6 months on the bench. At Tottenham he is given the support of his manager. That is more important than trophies IMHO.

If Poch were to leave, things might change. But Levy is not silly, Poch was the first person he got to commit his future to the club.

I guess the great unknown in all of this is who will leave and when. Players like GKN, Sissoko and Llorente departing might not cause too much concern amongst fans, but as we saw last season - our squad is too thin not to rely on the fringe players, and rely on them often.

Indications are that some of the youth players step up but in some positions - ST and CB in particular - we lack any real experience beyond first team players who are currently playing 50+ games every single year.

Toby leaving without being replaced will be a disaster. For what it's worth, I reckon United will sign Boateng just so that Jose doesn't have to sell Martial to us, then they'll come knocking again next year and sign Toby for £25m.

If we can keep Dembele, add Grealish and get Winks and Wanyama back to full fitness, that should be enough to tide us over for the season.

Question is: is tiding over going to cut the mustard anymore?

Somewhere on one of these threads someone said that any team can sign a loan player up until August 31st with an option to buy on Jan 1st 2019. That's got Levy written all over it, try before you buy!

IIRC that only applies to EFL clubs (Championship down). Could be useful though in terms of loan deals for our youngsters, none of whom will be getting any game time after DH's busload of marquee signings arrive on thursday <whistle>

The press are saying that we were in for Bernard but Levy bulked at £200k per week, too bloody right, what are Everton playing at?

They're my tip for biggest disappointment this season. Silav is a fraud in my opinion and their squad - though much pacier than last year - remains a bloated haphazard mess of players who you look at and struggle to see ever gelling. Bit like Wet Scam.

Shame really as they have a load of promising young attackers who have been pushed further down the pecking order by Richarlison and Bernard as well as Walnut's arrival last season.

The first 6 we were not a big side ourselves and played a team very close to us in the League so 50:50 is a good estimate. The last three were similar. The only one where we were hot favourites was against Portsmouth. It is a common human failing to see patterns in random events.

The fact you concede that it's the bigger sides that win it leads me to believe it's not really just down to luck. Small margins maybe but generally the biggest sides win it.

Sane mane and Salah were all sub 100k at the time which is within budget. Might not be the wages levy wants to pay for their first time at the club though as he likes them to prove themselves first. Saying that isn't sissoko on 95k a week?

Nobody actually knows what wages a player is on, it’s all conjecture.

Sure, we can guess who the top earners are, but it’s the red top press that publishes guesstimates of how much they earn. The clubs never disclose those figures,

I never said it was just down to luck. Of course it is more likely that the best sides win it. The point I am making is that the outcome of individual matches between evenly matched sides is more or less random and a streak of 8 losses in a row is not in any way weird.

He also didn't have the easiest of starts in life. When he was a few years old, he lost his younger brother in a cot death. It affected his family profoundly.
