not sure what to think of this gio looked so promising and will do well given matches especially under matinez, shame harry never believed in him
I think it would be a good move for everyone to loan him out to a fellow Prem team. Gives Wigan a potentially good player, gives GDS a chance to prove to everyone whether or not he can cut it at this level, and gets another player off our books and out of our hair for a season.
I'd prefer a sale, our squad is so bloated as it stands. If we balanced the books some more through player sales we could raise our wage cap and getting better quality rather than be flooded with mediocrity which Harry has no faith in.
Yeah we probably do need to get rid fairly soon if we want to recoup any money from a sale, well said. I'd love to give him more chances to come good because I'm sure he has it in him when you look at his performances for the Mexican national team but how many chances does one guy get before it's time to call time? Getting rid is probably the best option, sadly, because he used to show so much promise.
I'm gutted he never got a chance. Had so much promise yet failed to deliver, though to be fair was never given a chance by Redknapp. Mind be left wondering "what might have been" if he goes Wigan and does the business.
Harry seems to give our strikers second and third chances in reverse proportion to their potential. Defoe and Crouch being the prime examples. Defoe has barely scored since his five against Wigan and rarely looks dangerous against good opposition.
I second that motion. If we could just get shot of half a dozen of the fringe players and replace with a couple of quality ones and pay them higher wages through monies saved, then that's got to be the way forward.
I'd be happy to see him go, it might be worth putting a sell on clause in there like we did with Taawat though.
I'd sell him too, but truthfully I'm really hoping that Harry knows something I don't in relation to this guy. Think it'll bite us in the arse one day. Maybe him going will allow us to get that Ruiz guy. Seems like he wants to play for us and may be a better bet.
I'd sell him if it meant Rodellega coming the other way, but otherwise I'd consider a loan, depending on how long he has left on his contract. He may not be Redknapp's cup of tea, but we might have a different manager next season.
I recall reading on here that the sell-on clause in his contract expired on August 1st, however I get the feeling we're more likely to loan him to Wigan to see if he makes the grade. If he does well, he might stay. If he does alright, we can sell him. If he flops, there's any number of Spanish, French or Turkish clubs who might take him.
I'm convinced that if we played Gio on the right of midfield instead of Lennon we would score a lot more goals and be a much better side. He even started to impress for us at the beginning of last season but got injured immediately unfortunately...
I would prefer a loan for GDS to another PL league club, then we can see what (if anything) he can do in the PL. I would just hate it if we sold him and he started to rip the league apart for another club, he certainly has the talent. He is a very talented player and at 22 years old I would want a hefty sell on percentage if we sell him.
Dos Santos signed for us on 18th June 2008. He's had over 3 years to sort out his attitude and show signs of consistent ability at 3 different clubs on loan. I'd say he's had his chance to show his worth.
Seems strange that he would go to Wigan as he has stated that he loves it in Spain and 2 clubs there are both interested in him.
