Did Morata want to join us? You can't hold a gun to a players head and make them join. There is always more to it than just offering a club enough money for them to sell.

Pussied out as he didn't wanna compete with Kane, he knew who his superior was.

Still amazes Chelsea paid what they did for Lolrata, he's never been the first choice striker wherever he's played yet they parted with £60m+.

It all depends how you mention success.

Trophywise I don’t think you can say ENIC have been a success.

But league finishes, stadium, training ground etc, the club has come on leaps and bounds.

We just need that little bit extra now to bring it all together and become a proper force.

Dele was a known quantity due to his exploits against Man U and Dier we picked up for peanuts. The cheapest of the 3 I mentioned was around the £11 million mark

The little bit extra is called luck. If we had drawn the weakest team in the last three rounds of the cup a couple of years back then we would likely have won it. There is no way that making the team better can reduce the chances of winning trophies.

At that point, probably not, but when it was seen we had another £30 million to blow on Sissoko then naturally the question I asked myself was, "couldn't we have gone all out for a proven attacker in a top league instead?"

I think i'm entitled to whine, as you put it, when I clearly saw that the right quality player for the same net spend could have taken us that final step. Instead, all 3 players we bought couldn't be sold at half the price we brought them in for.

Janssen was top scorer in the Eredivisie at 21 years old and Nkoudou hit 10 goals in 40 appearances for Marseille. They had higher pedigree than Dele and Dier and all in that “young with potential” bracket.

Yes. Everyone makes mistakes. It us those that make the fewest that succeed. You can't cherry pick. Obviously if we always signed the right players we would be more successful. But there is no way to do that. We could have had Morata instead of Janssen and Llorente. It wouldn't have helped.

We got Son in that time frame. As well as Alderweireld. We also got Lucas the same time Arsenal got Auba. Didn’t get much of a chance that season but big things are expected now.

You honesty think Dybala and Icardi would come to Spurs when we have Kane? Sorry, Geri, that’s just madness mate.

As for Salah, I’m pretty sure that at the time we signed Sissoko, GK and Janssen, Salah was still a Chelsea player or had just joined Roma from Chelsea, so there was no chance of getting him.

Yeah but the point I made was that we did sign quality in that time frame. For sure we also wasted money on players but we still brought in quality.

As I’ve said numerous times, no side has a 100% successful transfer record. You take the rough with the smooth and hope your better signings outweigh the negative ones, which ours clearly do as we’ve been able to compete alongside bigger sides over a number of years now. That wouldn’t be the case if we constantly signed bad players.
