so all is well in the world again, and rhc is still trying to work out what the **** is going on and how to reply
This new deadline day actually works very well. It's something to do waiting for the big kick off rather than a day after 3/4 matches thats just in the way of the footy. next couple of days will be rife with speculation and when the dust settles teams will be settled before the first game. but most of all utd are scrambling UNITED FIRM ON POGBA, MARTIAL Manchester United will resist any offers for Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial while continuing their search for a centre-back, ESPN report. Jose Mourinho has made it clear he wants to secure two more signings before Thursday’s 5pm deadline, but acknowledges that signing a defender is a priority, with Toby Alderweireld, Jerome Boateng, Harry Maguire and Yerry Mina linked with a move to Old Trafford. As a result, United have no intention of losing Pogba or Martial, two of their high-profile players, although they are willing to listen to offers for Matteo Darmian and Marcos Rojo. So.... After savaging martial and offering him about now they won't sell at any price. And obviously pogba is the crown jewel so no offer, even of a CB will shift that position

I think that the window closing before the season starts is a good thing in principle- the only caveat being that there's too long a gap between our season start and that of other leagues. This can put us in the position of being pressurised to sell someone without the ability to find a replacement. It would be better if all incomings and outgoings were frozen at the same time. On a related note - if the Barca story were not just the usual nonsense, what would happen if they offered cash plus player for Pogba after our window closed? I presume this wouldn't be allowed under the current rules.
The window is fine. We can easily tell players/agents/clubs that they aren't moving if we can't get a replacement so don't be stupid about it. They could still do the deal for Pogba after the window closes but the new player can't play for them until January.
It's having bought early helps. We are only looking too move players on now, something we can sell do regardless of Thursday's deadline.
I am imagining that deadline day will come and go for origi and markovic. Chiravella deal seems to stall for some reason. I dunno why. maybe the boy decided no. the fee seems very defined Ings will only go to english club so someone will pony up this week or he is stuck til january. his wish to "play" has backfired on him. Grujic will prob be sent off to somewhere on loan but cardiff seem to have spat the dummy on waiting for him. dunno if they will be back in a panic. again this week but could leave by end of agust on loan. dunno who else then.
