Don't think either of the CBs can be written off individually but it's clear as day they shouldn't be paired. Neither has the pace to cover each other and have slow turning circles, with the right partners I expect them both to improve.

Yeah that's what I'd say as well, too early to write either (or anyone) off but neither of them is suddenly going to become quick so playing them together isn't a good idea.

I thought Ozturk had a bit of something about him, tough enough for English football and looks to be a bit of a maverick, seemed to pop up all over the place and was at least trying to bring the ball out. Maybe he's just rusty as **** and might be useful when Ross has him up to scratch.

He's meant to be git comfy on the ball and good at playing it out. Hopefully he settles and his confidence builds. We have to remember, many of our signing haven't played close to these crowds bout to unnerve a few characters so all need time imo.

He also looked short of confidence with his passing.

The club must have seen something in the lad. We just haven't seen it yet.

Yeah there's room for improvement to say the least but I did see something in him. Don't think he'll be bullied by anyone.

Plus that lad with Ndong's stupid hair, forgotten his name, must be one of the best forwards in the league, he looked a real handful until he faded in the second half. Bit of a baptism of fire for Ozturk in a few ways, maybe similar to Kirchhoff's debut when he looked out of his depth against a good side.

But why single the lad out for abuse?
Why not just enjoy the win and say we can improve as a team which we will as they’ve only just met, rather then single people out and give them ****?

There were a few reasons the lad was singled out Smithy, and by what seems to be a quite a few number of guys who watched the game.

He had a dreadful game, pure and simple, and looked woefully out of his depth, even at this level. I think I've avoided being more critical until this post.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with celebrating the result, the second half performance of the team overall, but I don't believe it does anyone any favours by avoiding an issue and pretending everything was rosy in the garden

As I've also said above on a couple of different posts, fair enough, it was the first game of the season, and the club must have seen something they can work with so yes, give the lad more time to show what he can do, but that doesn't also mean sitting here keeping my opinions to myself.

Not a problem mate, quite the opposite, to live in a town in the US, where the population is 95% white, and urban enough to support a 40,000 seat stadium, those houses cost $700K - 1M.

<yikes> Wow! Thats expensive!! You could probably draw a sinilar parallel with many small suburbs around the commuter belt of London that are very expensive and mostly white. Places like Epsom, Cobham and Walton. But not towns on the scale you describe.

Bri gave a good explanation above as to why working class towns in the north are mostly white.

Apoligies for jumping to the wrong conclusion earlier by the way.

Lyle Taylor - the lad we were after.

Ozturk will be a threat going forward. At least he will score more goals than John O'Shea.

Breen wasn't the fastest but was quick enough and could read the game well enough to cover his partner. Nether were particularly good CBs imo

So he was part of the first half showing but he was also part of the second half showing, why anyone needs to single out players at this part of the season is beyond me. We won an opening game for the first time in god knows how long. Don’t keep your opinions to yourself mate be a boring place if we all agreed all the time.

Ps I was trying to reply last night but was a bit to pissed. The efes has taken its toll :)

Forest's goal scorer looks a hell of a player.

I did the Luton one, but I'm struggling to do the Sheff. Wed. game 'cos I'm off to do a bike ride tomorrow (Scottish C2C - one that I haven't done before) and I can't find enough substance at the moment to do a decent job !

I've looked to nick things from the usual places, but now't seems to have been updated yet so I'm snookered.
If 'things' appear later today I'll be able to do this, but I get the impression that it'll not be possible until the morning . . . . after I set off :emoticon-0101-sadsm

Does anybody else fancy giving this one (just the one 'cos RTB will be back for the Iron one) a go ?
