Don't know why your quoting me there mate, I was clearly taking the piss out of Mourinho's bus tactics
So far yes, we finished 2nd to an amazing City team so cant really complain. If we drop from that this year I may change my opinion. 2nd most games won 2nd least goals conceded 4th most goals scored Not bad for a parked bus, yeah we never beat cannon fodder by putting 6 or 7 past them but we won more games than most.
Do you actually watch football or just look at stats and tables? Genuine question, do you like him AND HIS STYLE? Fair enough if you genuinely do, I couldn't stand the football under Houllier and I think Jose is worse.
Yes I watch football and no, I rarely resort to stats. I am not happy with the football I am watching but at the same time see football as a results game. I have seen a lot of teams get relegated playing great football, how would you feel if Klopp got you relegated?
Does it look like we're heading towards relegation? I'd rather watch decent football every week and win ****all mate. It's suppose to be entertaining. Each to their own though I guess. Bet Jimmy would love the Mourinho and George Graham style 1-0 wins.
Funny old thing the style and results thing. Talking to a mate of mine and he asked if I'd take one Nils every game if it meant we lifted the prem in may. My initial reaction was of course I would, but then I thought about the absolute lunacy if some of our seasons, up and down all the time. I don't think I could give it up for grinding ****e out every week. Even if in garenteed cups at the end.
Too generous IMO. You finished 2nd in the same way Spurs finished 2nd, at no point actually challenging. And he was garbage in Europe. So long as Pep/City are aiming to win every game the only challenge will come from managers like Klopp who try to do the same. Mourinho's dinosaur tactics of playing for draws in big away games will never work unless all rivals suffer massive collapses and he wins by default.
It is obviously a personal preference type of issue. Personally I have no problems with a good defensive team. City versus Huddersfield last season to me was massively entertaining. Terriers put their bodies on the line - loved it. I also have no problems with the long ball The two greatest for me were Beckham and Molby and I loved watching them (molby mainly archive stuff - never saw him live). If all teams did was attack we would end up with a game akin to basketball and that would not entertain me. As I have said before Jose seems to do both but receives more coverage when he parks the bus. That said I think defensive is his goto option. I think he is on the wum or as a few have said trying an exit strategy We will soon see
My problem is that he has a good squad and a very good team, yet feels the need to play defensively with them, which clearly irks some of the players. He basically goes into big games acting like "well we are the underdog, let's sit back and see what we can steal" There is a big difference between a hoof to the big man and a targeted cross ball from the likes of Beckham.
Jose does what it says on the tin, delivers silverware. If you want someone to put a trophy in the cabinet, he is your man. For someone so limited, he keeps getting the big jobs.
I have no issues with a great defensive display. It's a part of the game, however hundersfield defended because they where playing city, it wasn't a season long tactic to bore the life out of an opponent. Also if we where fighting relegation, then it's a ligitamate tactic when everyone is better than you. I'm talkng more about a manager perposely setting his team up to squeeze the life out of a game, stifle the opponent's and nick a goal . I don't think I could watch it every week.
lads it's not even that it's a good defensive display. it's jumping out of the dug out after Utd score at home v a no Mark team and going defensive on 1-0 if he would even allow his home fans a few goals they wouldn't be so irate
The occasional needed defensive display is fine but every game and certainly not against teams you should be battering anyway
Theres one thing Huddersfield with a team costing about £3m defending for their lives against City. It’s another thing when a team containing two of the worlds most expensivenattacking players along with many others do the same thing though.
