Good Morning Everyone Leeds delivered a master class lesson to new boys Stoke yesterday afternoon at Elland Road. Surely, we are talking about Leeds' best performance in over a decade? Not even the commentators could think of a bad word to say about us! Did you see Heckingbottom's face after the game? He looked shellshocked as the realisation that 10 of his former players had just dominated the title favourites. I bet Paul Madeley was loking down from the best seat in the house proud as punch having been thoroughly entertained for 90 minutes - that performance was for you. MOT! Regarding the Derby County game next Saturday, do Leeds keep the same starting XI? Leeds look set to add Lucas Nmecha to their squad in the next 48 hours. The Citeh forward has represented England from Under 16 level all the way to the Under 21’s. The 19-year old is known for his blistering pace and versatility, being able to not only play as a striker but also occupy either wing. As reported by the Guardian over the weekend, Bielsa worked out, it took an average Leeds fans three hours to earn enough money to watch the team play. He then made his squad pick up litter from around the training ground for three hours to teach the players a lesson in appreciating the hard work their fans put in just to be able to support them on a Saturday. Absolute class. If someone offered you a guaranteed play off spot now, would you take it?
Morning Elland and all. Thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of yesterdays performance. How long have many of us been crying out for a top coach and been only given a bunch of hocks, hecks and all sorts of joe averages and possibly worse than that. Theres no cheap route out of this league anymore, especially if you want to then survive in the PL. It looks like Rad has learned that lesson at last and well done to him and his entourage. I wonder how much has the influence of the 49ers had on the new look setup?
Morning El, morning all. What a win, and what a difference it makes to the mood the next day. Its only one game, but its nice to have something to be proud about again and to send a statement of intent out to the league nice and early. Carry on like this and attracting decent players should be easier.
Dont want to be a party pooper and sound like glory (...) but, its one game in. Granted we played some fantastic football - but its going to take some serious fitness to carry that on all season. That said, 3 points against stoke - we couldnt ask for more. Fantastic performance and I really hope it continues. MOT
Morning all... I’m all praised out, I kind of don’t want the next game to come around as I can’t see how that can be topped. Those players on the bench must be thinking ****, how am I going to get into that team. Although it was a very, very bit part by young Harrison, I thought he had great attitude knowing he had around 5 minutes to impress. He didn’t look like a substitute coming on to waste 30 seconds, he went straight in looking for the action, I can see him playing a big part.
Morning all. Went to pub yest afternoon hoping to see match, but not a chance with all the other sport on. ,1st time I've seen hockey on tv in a pub in ireland. I managed to get the last 20 mins when we were 3 1 up,and we didn't look great then, so it's good to have heard all the positive comments about the performance.I Does anyone know why there is 2games in championship midweek and not a full fixture list?
Probably for sky the 2 games,137 live Championship games this season, getting like the prem where only every other game is a 3pm sat KO.
Morning all. Not much I can add in praise for what we saw yesterday so I will comment on a couple of concerns. I, like others, wondered if we will be able to keep that tempo up over 46 games. Then I looked at the bench. Plus other players still to come in. Plus the youngsters like Pearce and Edmondson, who are available. I think we have the squad and players to keep things fresh. I would also have expected earlier subs. Once we went 3-1 up we should have looked to change the player most knackered at that point. The quality of our bench means we would not have been weaker. I hope, unlike the last three coaches we have had, that Biesla has a plan b,c or d. If later on in the season we are knackered he can play a different way if needed. Also I think game management will be vital. Next home game against Rotherham we need to coming out of the traps like yesterday and try and smash two goals in early. Once we have we can afford to slow it slightly and just control the game to victory.
Good Morning to Matt and co from a hazy Bardsey WOW WOW WOW that's how good we were yesterday and Heckingbotoom must now be left wondering how can I possibly get another managers job after 9 of the players played for him and looked like pigmies I thought that he has improved Roofe Saiz Klich Cooper a tremendous amount I would have brought on Pontus to take care of Crouch and taken Beradi off I am sure at Derby we will play Pontus asz Beradi made several mistakes divivg in and Cooper made a tremendous interception when face with 2 0n1 he was a revelation still don't think it was a penalty thought Ince dived but we knew where to attack them down their right flank abally assisted by Douglas My MOM was Roofe he put a great shift in and deserved a goal no I won't let him go now! Finally I agree this was some performance and should stand us in good stead for the rest of the season
Do you think Harrison should have headed the ball in after that great cross or was it deflected I don't know
Good morning to you all. As i sit here typing my eyes are welling up,thinking & reading about yesterday, only got to see the first 20 min or so,before the link went & wondering what planet that team in white were from, then of course the planet spain, madrid (real) of course, then it hit me,like a sledge hammer i was not dreaming but watching an incredible performance from Leeds United, the likes of which i have not seen in nearly 30 years. All players surely rated nines & tens, but it's not just the players, what's it been 6-8 weeks with Bielsa in charge,i was always confident in this guys abilities, but the turnaround with those players was off the scale. If after this short period their has been such a change what will the team be like further down the line.My only sadness about all this was that Boggers could not see his beloved Leeds play like this again. Now back down to planet earth it's only been one game, but let's enjoy it (because a week is a long time in football) it's Derby up next, and if we can put in a similar effort to yesterday,i will be even more convinced the PL awaits. Amazing start Well done to all involved at the club MOT
Morning all, l for one need to eat humble pie in the case of Cooper, he was solid as a rock, lead by example and a credit to himself (i personally would have him tested for drugs). I also like what i saw with Philips and Klich interchanging and covering for each other...... very impressive. I would like to make a comment over the bench, in particular Pontus Jansson, l am lead to believe he was rested due to being on duty for Sweden in the WC and then on holiday??? what duty?? he played one game, so how did Pep go one with Stones, Walker, Sterling, Aguero etc for the Charity Shield??? they all played Pontus, plus after the final whistle did you see him congratulate anyone after the match.......NO, this player is starting to piss me right off, either jump into line turnip head or GTF, yes he can make the team stronger but no one is bigger than the club, Bielsa will put him straight i am sure.
Morning Eire, there have been clubs that have thrown their money around, hoping that it sticks. I genuinely think that the money Leeds have used has been carefully invested. 3m for Douglas was an absolute bargain
Morning Bucks, good to see posters from other boards slagging us off again, saying the Leeds fans will be talking about automatic promotion - not that they are bitter you understand...
We should be talking about promotion every season, lets not get complaisant we are Leeds united and we should be challenging to win it every year!
Morning ristac, I agree about Harrison, some lovely touches, but what about Alioski. Did not give the ball away once - got into some great positions.
Morning Hamase, when was the last time you saw a performance like that, eh? As you said Blackman, Baker, Jansson, Bamford and the youngsters have not even had a touch of the ball yet?
