Sounds like my house. For an inexplicable reason Juventus are very popular at the moment. 7 & 9 year olds.
At least pick the best team in league 2, or perhaps one. Not the world, that is so glory hunting annoying!
I can´t see Spurs winning a trophy this coming season, whereas I can with Atlético. And it is not really glory hunting to want a team like Atlético win something, whereas with the usual suspects in the PL, it is unless you are from that city/región.
With living in NZ I thought it would be the Crusaders; who yet again have emerged as the Super Rugby Champions. Will be interesting to see how good NZ are in the forcoming internationals before trying to slay a selection of Six Nation teams in the autumn
you don't like the formation Beef or don't think we are have the players for it? I remain to be convinced, chelsea were good at it and England made it look great. I think we've kinda used the principles of three at the back when playing 4 by pushing Bertrand and Cedric up on the wing and having Wanyama/Romeu dropping back into the three. The problem is that we were rubbish at it against BMG. The formation should close up the middle of the pitch, forcing oppo out wide and we conceded 3 from long passes straight down the middle. At the moment, for me, Romeu is the problem. He's too ponderous. Can be hard to get past but is too slow in transitioning to attack and his distribution isn't good enough. We need n'golo kante and in there and we don't have him. Hopefully we will see the Claude Puel Romeu this year at least.
Yeah, good one Crusaders. Thankfully, my two are not remotely interested in Rugby. I've never loved it though I enjoy watching it at times. Anecdotally, Rugby interest is declining in NZ among younger (whiter) kids while still being the main game for Maori and Islander whanau. Statistically the game has declined dramatically as a participation sport. Football is by far the bigger game here now with the kids. My kids club has something like 1200 players across all the age groups. The World Cup interestingly was massive, whereas the Brazil competition didnt really register. You know it for a fact when Rugby isnt the lead item in sports news for a week of more. Rugby will never go away and will be our national game for the forseeable future. In 20 years we might be the next Croatia but I have no idea how that could ever happen.
The Amazon series All or Nothing - The All Blacks is out now if you're interested. I've watched the first ep and its what I expected. Little insight, very guarded, full of self importance. I'll persevere as a mate took over the editing and I'm keen to see if he managed to do anything more with it.
I watched it all, very good on the inner conflicts of the players and of Steve Hansen, but as you say, it didn’t really shed any new light on the AB’s and was very self-congratulatory.
Can't stand rugby at all, but I did go and watch an Auckland Blues super 12 game when I was in New Zealand and actually enjoyed it. Was a far better spectacle than **** northern hemisphere rugby where it seemed to me to all be played in the forwards. They were getting it out from the breakdowns very quickly and letting the backs just run at speed and some of the handling was great. I remember thinking I could see why it was so popular in NZ, completely different game to here. I have no idea if English rugby has changed as I don't watch it and this was 10 years ago now that I was in NZ.
