Halfway through the first half you could see that Lemina was tired. The fear for me is that our weaknesses were glaringly obvious yesterday. Some can be put right with coaching and team selection plus a return to form but some will only be solved by new recruits. We clearly need to be more enterprising going forward and need a fit mobile striker. We are still too slow and ponderous in our build up play. If nothing is done to solve our problems it will reinforce my view that in the main footballers are thick.
I don’t really take much notice of friendly performances (team & individual), formation, tactics, results, etc. Just hope the manager is learning something, whether it be positive / negative. However, conceding 2+3 in our last two home games, is worrying. Let’s hope they’ve worked it out by Sunday. COYS
Noticeable that the two Referees Marriner and Pawson for the friendlies both did a great job, admittedly not a great deal of pressure but efficiently run and sensible with the cards, well done both.
Not sure it’s the footballer’s intelligence that is this issue, Godders. It’s the brains trust on the board that’s the concern...
Not quite true. The changing sides was part of a changed formation and we had a lot more time in the final third as a result. Unlucky not to score in that last 10-15 minute spell
It was ironic that we won a batch of corners just after Vest was taken off, didn't have any opportunity to test that weapon of JWP on to his head.
Don't talk to me about the corner count rule. I played in a charity game when I was 22 and we lost because some idiot forgot about the corner count rule and gave one away when we were within a sniff of making the semi-final. Not that I've let it bother me...….
I saw that Everton have scored 26 goals in Pre Season (22 in one) and only won 1 match. I'm sure all of their fans think they will finish bottom of the league too.
Time for me to look around for a team that is going to win things. I am torn between Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid, at least in the Champions League.
Me too, It may be proved wrong, but at this moment i'm looking forward to a few goals and excitement and decent football in a good atmosphere. Not too fussed where we are in the table as long as we can keep above 16th for all of the season.
