Morning all, just back from the fields where I had to do some planting. Went down at 7.00 am and it was a reasonable temperature to do it, about 27°C. As I walked back you could feel that it was already getting hotter. We have an orange warning for high temperatures and have been warned to keep covered up. My neighbours have taken the same course as me by being out and about, trying to get essential jobs done. I would happily accept a day of non-stop rain.

Morning all. The heatwave continues with no sign of a let up. This weekend is a crossover one when those who took their holidays in July return, and those going away this month set out. Although most modern cars have aircon there are many that do not, and the certain delays at the toll booths will be extremely uncomfortable in the heat. Most of the country has a warning out for extreme temperatures, so I am rather pleased to be going nowhere.:emoticon-0103-cool:

Dave all the best for the opener. Looks like you're carrying a few injuries but with Birmingham having been limited in their preparations who knows. Guess you'd take a point?

    <cheers>

    • Maghoma (56'minutes),
    • Solomon-Otabor (89'minutes)
    FT 2-2 HT0-0
    • Hernández (83'minutes, 90'+4minutes)
You left that late Dave :emoticon-0100-smile

71% possession. You'd think Birmingham were the away team! But you're off and running <cheers>

Morn'in. Well last really hot day here 32C then falling back down to 25C over the coming week.

After a trip to Gibraltar a few days back I returned with 3 liters of Blue Sapphire Gin. Tried a few cocktails but have honed in on:

In large goblet: splash of gin, fresh orange juice, large ice cube, Grenadine added after orange to get the red yellow separation, topped with soda water, and 2 mint leaves and a slice to decorate.

Today I'll call in at the chinese junk shop to get a few umbrellas to really get the full Delboy effect <laugh>

    Enjoy one and all.

Morning all. Our forecasters have now moved us from a yellow warning to an orange one, saying that temperatures could rise to 39°C in some places. There is a long list of what to do and not do, including going to a supermarket that has air conditioning, where it suggests you could spend a couple of hours. Perish the thought! I popped into my bank yesterday lunch time, and they had their aircon turned up to maximum I think, as it was positively chilly in there. :emoticon-0103-cool:

Meanwhile I have a cucumber glut. Mme grows some plants from seed each year for her greenhouse, and I plant one down the fields. This year she had 100% germination so daughter was given one to keep going. All of them are in full production with 45cm long fruits, which look and taste better than the supermarket ones. The neighbours are enjoying them, but how long will it be before the whole hamlet gets tired of cucumber? :emoticon-0138-think

We have had a cucumber glut too. Taken to "guerilla cucumbering" - leaving them on doorsteps of local people we know :)

It is odd the need to use AC to an extreme. My wife sets it so it lowers the temp. 2 or 3 degrees max. Thus the contrast is much less, as you move to and from, and so is the electricity bill. And I'm a great believer in the human body's ability to adapt if you give it a chance.

Having said that I have had no success with the family. I tell them that going around saying "O the heat :emoticon-0107-sweat", "it's so hot:emoticon-0107-sweat", ........... doesn't help. Just accept it, move more slowly, keep the fluids up. There are two fridge freezers full of cold drinks and ice after all. And the're Spanish and should be used to it! But do they listen? ;)

OFH store cucumbers in cold box, add kchorn's address to the outside, call the courier. I hate to see waste. And spanish cucumbers (that's the ones they don't export to the UK) are c**p :emoticon-0103-cool:

    Old French Horn Craft Beers

    Founded in 2018

Fine english craftmenship of the owner's, nay master supper skills, honed over many years.

In his early years he was blessed with the inner meanings of the ale. The gods of Ind Coope and Benskins were common. To be later topped up with a little Adnams and Greene King.

And who would dare to launch such a project set in middle of French wine country? At first the locals spat. Then they tasted with the intention to critise. But then they supped and soon they knew the truth. "Deux pints et paquete de les crisps si'l vous plait"

ok I'll get my coat <ghost>
