Sam Clucas is set to undergo a medical at Burnley as his £8million exit from Swansea City moves closer to completion. The Clarets submitted a bid for midfielder on Thursday, and the former Hull player has travelled to Lancashire with a view to completing that switch over the weekend. His exit will hopefully clear the way for Swansea to finally wrap up a move for Brentford’s Ryan Woods following elongated talks between the two clubs over a £6million transfer.
This on Sky BRENTFORD TO RECEIVE MAWSON SUM Brentford are to receive £600,000 from Fulham’s £15m deal to sign Alfie Mawson from Swansea, Sky Sports News understands. Mawson was a youth player at the Bees before joining Barnsley in 2015 when he was out of contract at Griffin Park. Brentford were owed compensation for him at the time, however, and under the terms of an agreement made seven months later, the West London club are owed 40 per cent of any sell-on Barnsley receive from the Swans. Barnsley are set to bank 15 per cent of the profit above £5m from the deal to Fulham - a sum of £1.5m - with £600,000 of that heading to Griffin Park.
Managers words, McKenna is premier league quality and too good for Swansea, may come back to bite him on the arse as Championship quality Celtic are sniffing around. https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/c...rated-defender-as-swansea-sweat-over-4m-deal/
I believe what he said was that McKenna is " too good for The Championship ", not Swansea in particular.
Hopefully he's good enough for us and we pick him up soon. Would still like to add depth at the back and McKenna appears to be a decent enough signing. We have VDH and Fernandez, who I'm no fan of and the stresses and strains of Championship football could see one or both could falter. I wouldn't feel confident starting Amat, he's too wild for my liking and is, or was, too rash on occasion so he's a card in waiting. He may have improved though as he played quite a few games last year in Spain, but after him we're down to last seasons U23's, not ideal, so I'd like another CB.
BBC: “We have the first red card of the season, as Yeovil full back Tom James is dismissed for a second bookable offence against Bury. He was due to join West Brom earlier this week, but ended up remaining at Yeovil after failing to agree personal terms with the Baggies. Instead, he has this dubious honour. Far better, no?” He was mentioned as a possible signing. Surprised that personal terms were an issue!
Sheffield will be really up for this opener against a newly relegated ex P.L. team. I hope the three debutant's settle in quickly, and that we can avoid an embarrassing defeat.
McKenna being tested for a possible torn hamstring later on today. He left the field injured playing against Rangers.
Apparently, according to Alan Nixon (who is pretty good when it comes to moves involving the Swans) we are back in for Tom James from Yeovil ... Naughton on his way?
I hope so, don't rate him, but who would want him, rather play Roberts, but would need cover, you could see from Naughtons body language pre season he couldn't give a **** for being here.
