Oh, of course he is I' m pretty convinced that Geraint will do the ToB - as you said, a wonderful lap of honour and starting in his own country...
Quite amazing that Sky have won 6/7 Tours de France....when if a British cyclist ever won it in my lifetime before I must have blinked.* *Answers on a postcard.
Bradley Wiggins was the first Briton to win it in 2012. Before that, Brits had had the occasional stage win, and worn the maillot jaune for the odd day. Sky under Dave Brailsford have revolutionised British professional cycling on both road and track, and the Sky team are the equivalent of Real Madrid in grand tours.
Talking of cycling, why was the Cycle London event scheduled on the same day as the final day of the Tour de France? Seems to me like a vain attempt to steal the Tour's thunder.
Suspect that finding a date that you can have a cycling event in London is the decider. Policing just one of the factors to be considered.....other events also have to be considered. Being opposite the tour finale was probably just a coincidence and wouldn't have any effect on the numbers that might choose to go to France.
I think the fact that the Tour was live on ITV and the Cycle London event live on BBC was a huge factor. Pretty amateurish attempt from the Beeb to diminish what was a magnificent British achievement.
I don’t think the event should have clashed with the end of the Tour. British riders have won the Tour for 5 out of the preceding 6 years so there was every chance we would have someone to cheer up the Champs Élysées on Sunday. It would have been relatively easy to find a different day. The whole thing smacks of the BBC being jealous of ITV’s Tour coverage.
Not stupid at all as I don’t know much about it either Fran. Apparently it is an annual event organised by Macmillan to raise money for a Cancer Research, so an eminently worthy cause screened by the BBC. I just think it’s a shame that the gloss of the world’s greatest bike race, won by a British rider, was taken by the two events clashing.

Elven Sports that have Serie A and La Liga rights have now got the UFC TV rights. They will be a channel on Sky
Murray beat Edmund 7-6, 1-6, 6-4 Didn't know who to go for, but soon realised I was supporting Edmund. I am a Murray fan and I want him to recover form, but I have enjoyed watching Edmund's rapid rise into the top 20 top players and he is the future. Anyway...it was win, win really.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/tennis/45055266 Murray through to quarter finals in a match that finished at 3 am in Washington. He broke down sobbing at the end and says he may not play in the quarter finals. Hope it was just emotional and not an injury.
https://www.bbc.com/sport/athletics/45062411 Why or why Joanna? What a foolish decisión to order something online and consume the substance without checking with the doctor first. Thank you BBC for highlighting the health risks involved.
