FA Cup runs are essential for the well being of lower League teams like Newport. I love to see the minnows knock out the so called 'big boys'.
We will get a couple before deadline day. We look some way short to me. Im just going to enjoy the season and see what happens. If we go down then we are still as a club in a strong place.
Something behind the scenes id say is the issue with Bogle. Definite ability. If he knuckles down a great signing for Ipswich.
I've actually have a hunch that Ward may do a decent job as a squad player for us this season if we can keep him fit... Madine remains to be seen. I think he gets some unfair grief but can't see him getting too much game time. We are definitely still in need of at least 1 more in midfield and a "seasoned" Premier League striker.
Here you go Sparks - 25 mins to satisfy your cravings.... http://www.skysports.com/watch/video/11459038/leading-leeds-united
Ward? We’ll see but not optimistic TBH Still am concerned about our lack of depth plus who’ll make up the 25. Still got K Harris, Pilkington & Tomlin to sort out. Main concern as I’ve been banging on about all pre season is right back. Plus obviously central midfield and striker. But RB especially
Vetch - you're right, it was the Revie era that "inducted" me into the whole football thing though I could never say I was a fan of the club - in fact quite the opposite - Chelsea were my boyhood heros. I was priviliged to watch them in the flesh at SB for nearly 3 years in the early/mid 70's. It was the Leeds/Chelsea 1970 Cup Final and replay that started it for me at a time when I was urgently looking for my first "hairs".... As for the present time (and recent past), the Leeds club has a had a chequered history on the pitch and in the boardroom to say the least, but I will say something for their posters on N606. If you can stand the banter, give out and accept the jibes in good faith, their forum on this site is a belter to join in - but it's not for the faint hearted..... Sorry for the departure from the thread "raison d'etre" guys - just a bit of nostalgia. Now back to today.
Nowt wrong wi' a bit o' nostalgia, ( or in my case neuralgia ), lad. I used to contribute to the Leeds 606 site but I found their " banter " was more insults and abuse, which was not only restricted to visitor's, so I found something more worthwhile to do, such as , helping my neighbour to empty his sceptic tank using a teaspoon. It's taken years, we are still at it. Leeds are not widely loved, and there are reasons for that. It could have been SO different. Revie's team was packed with highly skilled footballer's, but Revie, for some unknown reason, turned them into a bunch of thugs. They became extremely unpopular. Football fans' have very long memories, and one of my most treasured moments was when Sunderland beat them in the FA Cup Final. Oh what joy, and most neutrals were " over the moon " about that result. I'm sure they will one day creep back to the top Division, and make many people wish that they hadn't. Anyway, enough of Leeds, now where is that teaspoon ? Have an enjoyable season. No doubt I will pop in from time to time, and maybe nostalg a tad more.
Agreed Vetch, their banter tends to be "insults and abuse" as much as anything else and as you say directed at their own as well as visitors, but then that's all the more reason to go there. Nevertheless, if you don't take them (nor yourself) too seriously, they have a lot of decent chat on the forum for such a "big club"......
Looks like the Grujic chase has finished unsuccessfully. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44640137 Hopefully there are other irons in the fire.
