This for me is one of the plus points of Pochettino he chooses his players with the whole team in mind.
Florentino Perez... "Modric is not leaving Real Madrid. He is not leaving unless someone pays the 750 million Eur of his release clause and not a Euro less." We couldn't afford him if they moved the decimal point one place to the left... Next.........
You know money in football has gone totally insane when a 32 year old player costs almost as much as a brand new stadium.
The stadium was only £350-400 M, the remainder is all the rest of the surrounding works. Therefore a 32 year old is worth 1.5 new stadiums according to Perez.
The scent of blood is in the Madrid water ... So was the release clause value for CR7 80m then this summer ?? Or was he able to demand no such clause ever be in his contract. Similarly, what is the release clause value then for Bale ??
Ronaldo’s release clause was something like £1bn. Think Bale’s is something like £650m. They’re all a farce though. La Liga’s ****ing weird for that.
So what is the method in the madness then ?? To force a potential buyer to show that they have X million in liquid assets to match the release clause, even though the player is never going to be sold for anywhere near that ??
it's compulsory to have a buyout clause in every la liga contract. The ridiculously high clauses is so that no one can be bought against the clubs wishes. See what happened to Barcelona and Neymar when they didnt make it high enough
If a player is under contract, and a club has no wish to sell, then a player cannot be bought. That is why (state-sponsored) player unsettling regimes exist (to make the presence of the player toxic to the owning club) .
He’s supposedly turned down Utd as he don’t like Jose’s style of play . Maybe Modric can tell him how great we are
if the release clause is met, then the selling club has no ability to refuse the sale irrespective of the player having x amount of years left on the contract?
