There seems to be alot of moves that seem to be making sense to us fans but the club seems to be not too bothered...or maybe they are...I doubt it though
If the moves that made sense to fans were the ideal ones, managing a football club would be a £20k a year job.
Thing is, if Utd do sign Mina, that leaves Toby in no-man’s land. Which personally, after seemingly holding us to ransom, I’d find ****ing hilarious. No one else has been strongly linked with Toby yet so if Utd have genuinely switched their interest (part of me thinks Mina is a smokescreen) then Toby will be enjoying a great view of the new stadium... Watching Jan and Dave play.
It says something that PSG have been linked to Verts and Rose in the couple of weeks but not Toby - and you'd think that would solve all his self-inflicted problems, wouldn't it?
Yes but soon sometimes fans can have better insight. Take Chelsea. Every man and his dog could tell you that 35 million was a ripoff for an injured Danny Drinkwater. Likewise you didn't need to be a genius to see sissoko wasnt a 30m signing (before the super inflated market) but these smart business people still make mistakes and obvious ones too
It's very strange that more clubs haven't come in for him. What does everyone know, apart from the price?
You say that but realistically there won't be a shortage of people who would jump at the chance to sign Toby for 25m. Liverpool need a new CB .Barca too . Chelsea probs .arse definitely. He would be the best CB at city and 25m is a bargain when you consider Mawson is 20m With potential but no where near the class of toby
I think every team should have a fans committee that vets transfers. That way deals like Drinkwater and Sissoko (at said prices) would become a rarity.
He’s supposedly asking for an insane wage of £180k a week - hence why he rejected our £130k offer. To put into perspective, only Sergio Ramos and Thiago Silva would earn more than him in terms of CBs. Meaning he’s asking for more money than what Kompany, Otamendi, Hummels, Boateng, Chiellini, Bonnucci and Varane earn. Not forgetting Vertonghen too, who of our CBs, deserves to be the highest paid.
We have too many non-home grown players already, he's very raw and his value is being pumped by a good WC, Barca are going to rape us on the fee and MP wants de Ligt. I'm doubtful that Mourinho wants him either. Isn't he this year's Lindelof or Bailly? The angry little Portuguese bloke wants Toby, which gets us de Ligt if it plays out right. High stakes gamble, admittedly.
If the general opinion is that United are after him then not many clubs would try to compete for his signature in a limited time window. If United make it clear by their actions that they are not going to sign him then expect interest from others.
Yes everyone makes mistakes. Those who make the fewest have the most success. Levy makes few mistakes.
For sure. But that means waiting another 12 months and then likely being less appealing (in terms of wages) than he is now, not many will wanna pay the £180k he’s demanding for a 30 year old. I literally have no problem with us losing him for £25m next summer either, that still represents a £14m profit on the £11m we paid.
Gotta disagree with that. It’d result in us missing out on the Dele’s/ Dier’s of the world as fans wouldn’t want an unknown signing. We wouldn’t have seen Kane emerge either as fans will have wanted a £30m striker.
