I hope to be pleasantly surprised. The newcomers fit the initial GP ethos ie they are young and hungry to prove a point...I would settle this early in the season to see evidence of the desire of the players to battle to win the right to wear the shirt. A lot of the so called now departing "stars" never really convinced me they had that. I do feel that GP knows the type of player required to make this club stable this season and not fall further. Going straight back up to the PL would not do us any favours as the rebuilding into something sustainable will take a couple of seasons. In summary I would be happy to finish mid table and take it from there. My gut feeling is that the new recruitment team may well uncover and develop several at present unknown gems in the not to distant future. It has been achieved before. I am all for developing success from humble beginings and not seeking the instant fix by trying to buy it at obscene costs.. It's a simple game that should be played out long term.

Who said spend millions and who said high profile players, what people want is a bit of reinvestment in the squad adding Championship quality players, not one person on here has said spend millions and not one person on here has said high profile players, so who is living in cloud cuckoo land.

We have already signed three players with championship experience. Asoro, Celina and Mckay all young I'm pleased to say and hopefully ambitious. As Potter rightly said we only want to keep players who want to play for us and are gradually getting rid of those who don't. All part of the rebuilding which can't and won't be done overnight.. Whilst noone has said spend big the implication is there because experience doesn't come cheap. I would rather sign young players with something to prove rather than older players who may no longer be up for it and just want a pay day.

There is a big difference between having championship experience to be an experienced championship player. The we only want players who want to play for us comment, please lets get real, I am sure every player who transferred here said they want to play for us at the point of signing as no doubt these three have said, so how do you differentiate between a player who signs and wants to play from us to one who signs and doesn't, who knows maybe next week they wont want to play for us after all. It is about rebuilding and your right it cant be done over night, but we have had a lot longer than over night.

I have to say though I am stiull waiting for you to show me where people on here said lets spend millions and lets sign high profile players.

I'm looking forward to this season, probably because I'm not expecting much.

The reality for me is a win for the Blades and for most of the sides we come up against this month and into the next.

Imo, I don't see us getting much from our first 7 to 10 games which are mostly against seasoned top 10 Championship teams, and Stoke, all of who have lofty ambitions and far more settled squads than ours.

In contrast, very few players in our unsettled, incomplete, squad have championship experience. Many don't even have first team experience and none know who will be in the squad with them when the season kicks off in just over 48 hours time. Why I think we'll struggle, initially, until the squad settles, the players gel enough for them be confident to express themselves in games. They're skill will out but they'll need time

There are doubts about so many players in the squad, Fernandez, Naughton (both allegedly asked to leave) Clucass, injured but courted by Burnley, J Ayew by Palace, Bony, injured? not? in or out? Mawson probably, definitely, maybe? who is going to join? Woods, Mckenna, some unknown from Palace?

Who's in? who's out? who knows? not the best environment for young, new players to find themselves in.

I think we will settle into a decent team in the end but not soon enough to push for promotion. A top half finish this season would be good with our youngsters growing and playing well by the end of the season. If that happens then the first phase of our re-build will be achieved and we can continue towards the playoffs next season (assuming the owners can keep their hands out of the till and allow the youngsters to grow and mature, if they do we could end up with a very good football team)

That is the crux because as long as they are here we will never rebuild, because if any of these signing interest another club and they can make a buck, even a small one then they will be on their way, I know that's the way of a championship side, That is why I quite liked the idea of signing 3 or 4 championship quality players who wouldn't be sold on and would give us some stability.

How much did Cardiff pay for all their championship quality players they had last season, How much did Bamba cost them, Buying Championship players doesn't cost a fortune, Buying Championship players who are of PL standard costs, but nobody stated that, So there is no implication of spending loads of money to bring in Championship quality, It can be done at a budget and you know that it can. Also who asked for high profile players.

We needed to let players go but we were Wrong to let 2 and maybe 3 players who were under contract that were premiership quality go so cheaply,,,,I would have told them they were staying for at least a season.....It was madness to let Fab leave for one......£7m is a steal and bad management at the end of the day...

I agree with you Dai. The problem is that as soon as the merrycans ( & bignose) see the big $ signs then there`s only going to be one outcome, and it ain`t going to be in the Swans favour. Vultures are still vultures at the end of the day.

There will be no quick fix for Swansea, who start their season at Sheffield United on Saturday, but that is all part of the appeal for Potter. “I’ve always been attracted to something that is about building and creating,” he says. “I’ve moved my family from an idyllic life in Sweden, so I didn’t come back just for a job. There had to be something where I thought: ‘If we can make this work, we can really do something special.’ And that’s what I want to do here.”

I'm just looking forward to seeing our new team and, hopefully, see signs of what we could grow into as the season progresses. Don't see us wining but hoping our youngsters wont go into their shells but will show glimpses of what they will be able to do with more experience.
