As opposed to the pro Ashley train, which just has you on it. Boumsong and Luque were two of the worst players ever to play for the club.
Indeed. Lazaar is one of the worst players ever signed by the club. He’s so bad the manager who signed never saw fit to play him.
Despite the fact he played 10 games for us? Why do you keep trying to labour the point about Lazaar? He was bought for peanuts as a squad player. One of the worst players signed by the club? No one even remembers him; you might as well say one of our kids in the youth system that never made it was one of the worst players signed by the club. Bounsong and Luque were bought for huge amounts, played regularly and were constantly horrific.
Lazaar cost less than half a Joselu. Regardless, FD just argues for the sake of it. It's his raison d'etre.
If we start the season without a new striker, for me relegation is the most likely conclusion. We can't go in with Jos,Gayle, Perez and Muto as our only options. Jos is a tryer, but not a scorer, Gayle's biggest return in the Premier is 7, Perez had his best season last year & and Muto is unproven. Dire times ahead, on the plus side, if i stick a bet on us to go down it 90% guarentees we stay up. Contributions welcomed.
Yeah a massive 4 league games in two seasons and 3 cup games we appeared to be trying to lose. Massive trust Did you watch him any of those games? Horrific. Fumaca was buttons too. He is still one of the ****test signings of all time.
Would you say that relegation inflated our sales in that period? Would you say we sold certain players for inflated fees?
What is this fascination with Lazaar? No one even remembers him already, he won't rank as one of our worst ever players cos we've bought plenty of crap for peanuts that hardly ever played. Then for some reason you bring Fumaca into the equation, someone who played 5 games for us on loan.....nearly 20 years ago. No one remembers him or cares about him either. Boumsong and Luque were brought on as 1st team players, given far too many chances for years and cost us countless points, hence why they're remembered as some of our worst ever players, and loanees and peanuts signings who hardly ever played aren't.
Boumsong was classic. Went to Rangers for £1.5m in September, Sourmess then got Fat Fred to spend around £10m just 4 months later!!! There was some agent-Souness-Rangers connection as well, I have no idea why it wasn't investigated. Souness definitely got ££££ from that.
It was investigated in the Stevens report, check out the Newcastle section: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2006_English_football_corruption_investigation#Stevens_report Basically we got questioned as to why we'd paid a fortune for 2 **** players in Boumsong and Luque (Free-Dor's world beaters), and they knew the money was going in someone's back pocket rather than as a transfer fee
To the first, not at all. Being a relegated club puts you in a fire sale situation rather than a situation in which you can command a premium. As for the second, they sold at market value for the time, by definition. The market has gone up since then. We have bought in the same, or more inflated, market as in which we sold. So, in a word, no. The prices might have been inflated compared with an earlier period but I can't see the relevance if so.
Actually Fumaca signed for Bobby. I think he was without a club. Probably fitting tyres to cars on reflection. I have no fascination with Lazaar. However we can't sign a much needed left back or right back presently because the manager has saddled us with Manquillo and Lazaar. Benitez wants to improve the squad, but he has actually prevented it.
Ah a name change to keep us on our toes. I know who signed Fumaca, my point was that it was completely unrelated of you and bizarre to bring him into the conversation! Yes I know he was ****, we've had plenty of other players that were **** in the last 20 years too, why cite him? No one remembers a thing about Lazaar, so he won't go down as one of our worst players ever, because he didn't do anything, he never played! He was a peripheral squad signing, whereas the big money signing of Ritchie, Gayle, Clark etc were all big successes that got us promoted. And he's prevented improvement? Last time we when in the Prem we finished 18th and this time we finished 10th....preventing improvement? Riiiiiiiiiiight.
Obviously, yes. That is what he sold for in a free market having enhanced his value by a fine display for France the summer before. What other value could you put on him ? The purchaser may have subsequently regretted the purchase but that is fairly common in the business of buying and selling players. It's fairly common in buying and selling houses. It doesn't mean that the market value of the player or the house was not in some way its "real" value. I'm sure you know all of this.
