Much easier to get to, but Ferriby was a real nice place to go to, love that ground.

There's no way they're going to get exclusive use of the facilities at Hull Uni so it won't happen, the facilities at Bishop Burton are brilliant, rather bizarrely, they're better than the facilities for our first team.

I meant use the Roy west centre, obviously I don't know what they've got there.
They use the facilities of hull uni for fitness tests don't they?
    Where there's a will.
It needs to be in Hull.

Last time I went there about 5 years ago, it was offices, with a few pitches at the back. Don't remember any stands.

Correct, I have sat in it. There is also a small bar and a refreshment kiosk. It's not a bad little set up to be honest.

Sounds like a bitter man does smurthy.
Can't agree more wth what Jon Beale says in the article.

Bridlington Town chairman Pete Smurthwaite hits out in wake of Hull City under-23s' move to County FA
The Bridlington Town chairman is not happy that funds which could benefit the region's non-league clubs are being directed to the East Riding County FA

OPEN LETTER: Bridlington Town chairman Peter Smurthwaite.
Bridlington Town chairman Pete Smurthwaite has issued a strongly worded statement in response to the news Hull City will this season play their under-23s games at the East Riding County Football Association ground in Hull.

City have moved their academy fixtures away from North Ferriby United's home ground to the Roy West Centre off Inglemire Lane, ending a long-standing partnership between the clubs.

Having planned to move away from the recently named Chadwick Stadium in North Ferriby, the Tigers met with Smurthwaite to discuss the option of taking games to the Hudgell Stadium in Bridlington, before settling on the ERCFA ground.

Smurthwaite's frustration is not centred on City's decision to turn down the chance to play academy games in Bridlington, more the fact the ERCFA will now benefit financially rather than a local non league side, with the well known BBC local radio guest stating how much his own club already contribute to the local FA.

Academy manager Jon Beale spoke at the time of the move's confirmation about the new partnership helping his players be embedded in the local community at a 'vital asset' that is the East Riding FA.

“The East Riding FA has been a vital asset to the local football community for many years now,” Beale told the club website. “So we’re delighted that this new partnership will bring dual benefits for both the Academy and grassroots football in Hull.

“An important part of our philosophy in the development of young players is to embed them in the local environment and to give them an appreciation of the community that has supported this Club for many, many years."

Now, three days on from that confirmation, Smurthwaite has had his say on the matter and he's not pleased with the ERCFA taking money off City to host games, given what he says is a lack of funds recirculated back to non-league clubs in the region.

"I am really disappointed at this decision and I am sure North Ferriby United will feel very much the same that this revenue from Hull City will not be helping the Non-League football clubs in this area," said Smurthwaite.

Here's the statement in full from the Bridlington chairman.
I attended a meeting at our ground at the end of May this year with representatives of Hull City’s Under 23s team having shown an interest in playing their home games at our ground this coming season. I received a reply eventually on Tuesday afternoon this week to inform me that they had decided to play elsewhere but thanked me for my offer.

The reason given was that it was too far away from Hull yet it is not that far from there base at Bishop Burton College but I accept their decision. There are a lot of Hull City fans who live in Bridlington and this part of the East Riding who would have been happy to attend these games instead of having to arrange coach travel to the KCOM stadium for a change,

Fifteen minutes later I received a message from a colleague that it had been announced on the Hull City Twitter feed that they had decided to play their home games at the East Riding County Football Association ground at Inglemire Lane, Hull.

I am really disappointed at this decision and I am sure North Ferriby United will feel very much the same that this revenue from Hull City will not be helping the Non-League football clubs in this area.

I know the revenue previously received was a great help to North Ferriby who had achieved great success in recent years with the FA Trophy win and appearing in the National Conference League bringing great prestige to the area.

It’s not too much of a problem for our club because we have not received any money from Hull City in fact they would not even send us any of their teams for a pre-season friendly this season yet have played Whitby Town and Pickering Town this pre-season.

The decision means the ERCFA are depriving non-league clubs of this vital income which is frustrating because they take money from the local clubs which helps with the upkeep of their facilities. Last season we paid £300.00 in affiliation fees and £1285.00 in disciplinary fines from our teams (yellow and red cards but nothing from myself last season I must have mellowed!!) Yet I have to raise money from elsewhere for the upkeep of our facilities with the following being spent on improvements and maintenance:

    1) Refurbishment of the football pitch
    2) New central heating boiler and equipment for the social club
    3) Roofing repairs to the social club
    4) Upgrading electrics to the stadium
    5) Repainting around the stadium
    6) Plumbing repairs around the stadium
    7) Replacement of seats with new in the main stand
    8) Service and repairs to grass cutting equipment
    9) Purchase of new line marking machine
    10) A sizeable water rates bill for watering the pitch
    11) Repairing the floodlights

The Sum Total of above £20,000.00

These costs during the reduced revenue of a closed season and what do I get from the football authorities “SWEET FA”. Yet the ERCFA are getting some very nice income from the Professional Football game as a bonus.

But the FA have the answer, lets sell the main asset of the game “WEMBLEY STADIUM” and put money into grass roots football, sorry to say I have heard it all before, it won’t happen.

Would it not be nice if Bridlington Town AFC, North Ferriby Utd and Hall Road Rangers AFC could be given an annual grant of £20,000.00 per season for the upkeep of our facilities and put money into grass roots football without selling “WEMBLEY.

    TO THEM THAT HAVE!!

    Here’s hoping in the future.

Why the **** would City to play reserves fixtures in ****ing Bridlington? It’s ****ing miles away - the same as playing them in Goole, Pocklington or Caistor.

Ridiculous attention seeking from a seaside dweller. He’s not the first...
