I had a dream in my mind that in 2 years time no one in the world would need to wear glasses or contact lenses. It was a 2020 vision.

This particular 1st is Lammas, also Lughnasadh, the first of the Celtic harvest festivals...my wife always gets a bit nervous this time of year as she knows I'm really into The Wicker Man

And men wonder why women put ground glass in their food.
    Don't they?
    Oh, just me then.

Yeah he’s very Scottish. His dad, Ron, was there too - he’s also an actor and was in S1 of GoT. Ron and Louie (the Sexy Beast guy) are friends.

Just read an article in the Echo and steam came out of my ears. The journalist used 'could of' instead of 'could have'. I grit my teeth and ignore it when used by the average member of the public, but no one writing for a living should commit such a solecism.

Am I the only person alive that has not watched Game of Thrones?

Neither have I. I'm sure that I would have loved it as a teenager when I enjoyed sci-fi and fantasy, but I'm all grow'd up now. Sounds good though.

Apparently that young snowboarder who died recently took her own life after missing a flight to join GB training. Tragic.

I ignore it almost every day, but writers are supposed to set a good example. I don't claim to be perfect because they stopped teaching grammar in my Grammar School when I was 12 (no, I have no idea why either) so I can't parse a sentence correctly, but 'could of' is just sloppy as it makes no sense. I think I need a wine to stop my whine. :)

I don't think there are any real journalists working for The Echo anymore, just media studies grads who can copy and paste badly.

Just can't - I am the grammar police at home and it would feel so wrong :)

I am also the apostrophe police and the 'tense' police. Oh, and do not start me off on double negatives!

I do get things wrong sometimes, but you are right - journalists should set an example. You wouldn't see DTLW making that mistake :)
